To kill Bowser: While holding a mechakoopa hold the up key. Release the a key while still pressing up to throw the mechakoopa vertically. Hit Bowser on the head with the mechakoopa.

From the maker of A Koopa's Revenge.
This is a remake of the final battle from Super Mario World. I think I did a fairly detailed job, but I took some liberties.

I originally made this as part of the Video Game Boss Collab, but that project has since been cancelled. In the collab we all, and by all I mean the 3 or so of us who actually finished, remade a boss from a videogame. So I've been sitting with this finished minigame on my hands for a while, which bugs me because I worked hard on it. A while ago BoMtoons submitted his parts in the collab to the portal, which convinced me I should submit mine too. So I added a menu and a gameover screen and now we have a game.

I also thought this would be a really cool game to play on the Wii. But unfortunately Wiicade doesn't allow Nintendo characters to be used in games on their site. So if people really want to play this on their Wiis, I guess I'll have to superimpose someone else's face on Mario.

Enjoy the game.

Sniff brings back memories

If i'd read your comments would have remembered I could throw them up! That would have helped. Very nice, just one tiny thing is it really needed to go to a game over screen every time you die?

Not really necessary, but I consider it a motivator.

A Good Remix...

You made a nice remix of the Bowser battle in Super Mario World and in some points it was even better then the orginal one.
The Mario sprite is moving good and it can do all things as in smw like the duck-jump and the spin-jump on the flames.Bowser had the same collison as in smw,so for the programming you get all points.
The graphics were sprites of a snes game and they are overall easy to use,so I can't give you all points in graphic.
The music was good at the beginning but the loop annoyed me after a while. The sounds were taken from smw as well and they were fitting in the game well.I missed the sound of the flames but that's not a big point for me.
You showed that you can programm a jump 'n ' run like smw good but it was a bit too short. You know it was just the Bowser Fight which isn't that challenging or long at all.I think you could make a really good mario or any jump 'n' run game in flash and I hope you will keep on working on you're skills.
Overall I gave you a 7/10 and a 4/5 and I hope you'll make a good game like this again but only a bit longer.

It is what it is. I've got longer spriteless games planned for the future.

Good, save for one thing

That brought me back to the old days. Enjoyed it, but the only problem is that there is no instructions on how to throw the koopa robots. A little note somewhere, either here or in the game itself would be a huge help to those that never played the original or just forgot how to throw things in the game.

Okay, I'll add it to the author's comments.

Woah

I have honestly never seen anything better than this except the actual game!

Lambtaco responds:

Thanks, I was going for a very accurate emulation. With the arms held out, jumping while ducking and the like. A lot of Mario games just have jump and walk, annoys me.

Nice flash remake!

Almost perfectly replicates the SNES boss battle!

Another thing to add onto NinjaMushroon's comment though: If I recall correctly, you're supposed to be able to spin-jump off of the giant bowling balls too. :P

Perhaps we can see a full Flash remake of SMW in the future?

Lambtaco responds:

I changed the balls now. But don't expect a full Flash remake of SMW, I just don't have the time. the closest thin I think will be A Koopa's Revenge II.
