Follow Inspector Spectre, Ghoul Gal and Zombor as they try to protect an ancient box and destroy the evil that came from it!

The Hyrde (pronounced "herd") is a new animated series that tells of three reanimated corpses who are created and charged by the Illuminati to protect an ancient box and destroy the evil that was born from it. As Inspector Spectre, Ghoul Gal and Zombor chase down the supernatural in New Jersey in a beat up bakery truck, they begin to learn about the box, the life that exists within it and their own former lives.

Using New Jersey and its folklore as the backdrop, the series takes The Hyrde to the darkest places as they battle living trees, pig headed ladies and even the Jersey Devil!

The Hyrde is currently in development for mobile devices worldwide. While primarily designed to be a mobile series, select episodes will be shown here at Newgrounds.

Since I could only list one musician through NG, it should be noted that the awesome Hyrde theme and end music come from the band Mighty Jack at http://www.mightyjackband .com

Pretty sweet.

This was pretty enjoyable but it seemed rather cliché. The thing that bugged me most about it was that the gun took out the tree completely while they were trying to axe it to kill it slowly. I'm all for dramatic anticipation but if they could've used the gun to kill the tree that easily, why didn't they in the first place? Because of this I expect The Hyrde to make up things as they go in future episodes, which is something I think completely kills suspense. That gun is way too powerful, and if it takes out ANYTHING, then how am I to fear for the wellbeing of these characters?

This series definitely has potential, visually and conceptually (plus the voice acting is dang decent) but so far I'm at a crossroads. I hope it becomes a great series! :D Good luck!

Thanks for the comment. This is the second mention about the gun, so I thought I should address it. Yes, the gun has TREMENDOUS power, but it does have limitations with regard to the number of times in which it can actually be fired---they got lucky this time 'round. Not seeing the scripts for the future episodes, it is of course expected that you would have no idea about that. Thanks, for the time being, in suspending disbelief. And for the vote. :)

zal right then

twas pretty cool, it seems like this could be a comedy if anything, I like it though, it reminds me of the cheesy saturday morning cartoons. Some of the animation seemed rushed though. Rock on dude, congrats on front page, I'll be looking for numer 2.

Thats funny...

Hehehe. Thats funny cause when I was in elementray there was a big three on the farthest end of the field with these big huge roots sticking out of it. We called it the 'Devil Tree'.

Did you go to Caesar Chavez elementray when you were young? I don't think so. If you did, you would of made the tree a whole lot fater with big roots.
That was the greatist, we use to walk around it, keeping our feet on the roots, we use to have battles to knock someone else of the roots, we use put mud, leaves and grass in between the crevasses of the roots trying to conjure something. We all use to say that if you cut the tree down the devil would come out of the stump... Good Times....... oh video was interesting. I'm looking forward towards the next one.

A solid first entry in what promises to be a standout series on Newgrounds. The art/animation was, for the most part, great with the exception of the few odd hiccups now and then (some of the running animation looked a bit disjointed, the ray gun looked pretty tacky). I loved the character design and the overall feel of the show; it was great to see how you took some of the conventions of the horror genre and made them your own.

The voice actors delivered believable performances that suited the characters perfectly, but the sometimes cheesy dialogue held the audio back (particularly for the unusually upbeat Ghoul Girl).

If you push the action angle a bit more, extend the length of future episodes, work on the writing, and add subtitles you should have all the makings of a classic series. I look forward to future episodes in the Hyrde series.
