This is a cool game with all the basics down. I remember playing this back when I was 7 in 2009. Came back for the memories and it's not bad. It is definitely skill based. The basic mechanics are alright and fill the criteria (as in they work). The soundtrack was okay, but didn't really immerse me into the game. It is WAY too easy to die and there are a fair amount of issues. For example, I literally got cut with a sword AFTER I decapitated someone and later got shot by an arrow yet again after decapitating someone. Achilles also has a difficult time turning-as in if an enemy is a killed and another is behind him he takes WAY too long to turn around which leaves him easily open to an attack. Speaking of the arrows, they shoot you off screen so for me the best bet was to turtle which takes a hit since the game seems like it is more of a progress forward and kill game. Achilles II improves on the game play vastly. The 4/5 controls did not work for me. And there is no pause feature which is a bummer.
