This is my first attempt at a flash game for my site and I need some suggestions on how to make this game more fun. I am still pretty new to flash, so my actionscript skills are pretty lame, but I am learning as fast as I can. I tried adding sound, but there is so much stuff going on that it just sounded jumbled. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Also, if you think it totally sucks, please tell me why so I can make it better.

For your first attempt I thought it was a decent. Work on your sound. If your going to make games, sound is an essential part of making it fun and entertaining. Adding a small lazer zap on the release of your space button should do the trick.
Not bad for your first game
You did a solid job making your first game and it managed to stay in the portal with an ok score. The graphics are all right for a beginner although you need to work on some details. But what prevents the game from being awesome is that it gets repetitive after a while. Yea, the enemies fire at you, you aim them, fire back, then go to the next level, very basic. Great games do not always have abstract structures, but you need more componets to make the game better. It is hard for a beginner to be masterful, just keep on practicing and you will get better.

so your game is not to good and could use a lot of improvement but just keep trying... a just a little pointer don't submit to many things that are crap and will get blamed because if to many get blamed you get a 15 day ban witch will not let you submit flash games or movies 4 those days
standard defense game but..
this was actually fun as a suggestion i think you should improve the graphics, make different enemys with different attacks and change the background for each level

good game, only suggestions i have are to make it progess smoother. if gets pretty hard pretty fast. maybe a few power ups and a bomb or somthing? just some thoughts! fun though, keep at it.
