Ok so I have some issues with it, (that's the reason I was putting it off for a year), but I figured I should finish it and get it out there.
I put the musical selections on my user page.
I dont know why the previous guy is an idiot. He used Pythagorean theorum since more people are familiar with that equation rather then using the physics equations or coming up with another line. I think even though its not correct was an excellent idea to use this. So you dont have to of had a physics class to enjoy this.
Yes, well. . .
I never came close to laughing, the line about the Pythagorean Theorum which everyone has been jizzing over in the reviews was simply perplexing.
Even if he had been able to measure the distance, height and calculated the hypotenuse, this information alone would not have enabled an accurate shot. Surely the important calculations would be trigonometric, and mechanical?
Just measure the distance and height of the buildings, use
tan x = opposite/adjacent to find the angle, then use equations of motion on the vertical and horizontal components of the angle in order to find the velocity required to attain the target.
Now the crux of the joke, was surely that the TANKMAN in question was being incongruent with his reference to an accurate mathematical solution using long words ('Pythagorean'). The same end could equally be achieved using the mention of an actual plausible method. This leaves a few possibilities:
1. The creator did not realize the Pythagorean Theorum was insufficient to calculate the answer.
2. The error on the part of the TANKMAN was deliberate, which only tones down the incongruence and makes it even less funny.
3. The error on the part of the creator was deliberate, in order to see how many people would realize this, and how many would just go 'LOL PITHAGRON THERUM'
Coming back from that digression, the lines in general were poorly conceived and delivered to my mind, but alas not to the minds (hm.) of my fellow newgrounders. The only potential of humour I saw in this was 'I know, but I don't care', which could have raised a smile in the right context.
The animation was smooth enough, congratulations on appealing to the great unwashed, but Tricky Madness 2 owns this any day.
well i'd hate to break it to you buddy, but you're not the first snobbish math prick to try and pick apart what is supposed to be a throw away gag.
I'd also like to point out that amateur literary snobbery doesn't pass for intelligence..quite the opposite actually.
this was very funny and nicely animated keep up the work
so good i had to change my pants
...well maybe not change them, but i still liked it. Very nice job, keep up the animating I want to see more of these guys in the future!
Thank Me Later...
