IMPORTANT: This is a rather different version of Chapter 1!
The original was released in 2007, but this version was uploaded in 2010. It's basically a 'remake' in many ways, though the plot and events are generally the same.

Unfortunately, your saves from the old version won't work due to the drastic differences behind the scenes, but there are enough differences, I hope, to make replaying worthwhile. Any saves you make in this version can carry over to later chapters properly.

EDIT (21st of August 2010): Sorry, there'd been bugs with this version for a long time! It's because I fixed the bugs on Kongregate and updated the version there, but didn't do so here... Now I have though, so hopefully all problems will be fixed.

Oh, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you have an appropriate Flash Player version! There's a screen at the start that warns you if your version is outdated. If this screen appears *at all*, then you may (probably will) experience some bizarre saving problems. Updating your Flash Player prevents them.

great game

this was overall a great game but there should be different monsters then them blue dragons and the boss at the end.I liked the dialoge humor, and how you can press A,S,D when that little ! came up and have a different effect.can't wait till the next chapters

Tsk... Another one who seems to have had the idea that The Dragon was the *end* boss, even though it was just the beginning...
What did you do those, lose to it or just quit as soon as it appeared to be dying?
(Interesting how what to me is purple seems to be blue to you...)

this game really is excellent. as per previous reviews the graphics may not be great yeah but there IS a limit to how much you can put on the file when you sumbit something to newgrounds so he cant really go all out with graphics now can he? also maybe it was the style of the genre so many turn-based rpg's came out on systems like the gameboy where they were only 16-bit at best. i think it fit it very well and that it was cool how you DID have good graphics during the battles (even though sometimes it lagged a tiny bit). also you're pretty bad at this if you can't defeat the dragon i got it on my second try because the first time sincec he had ??? health i thought that i was supposed to die but apparently i wasn't anyways best way to win is to use your good attacks, block with the appropriate keys dependign on his attack everytime otherwise your going to lose alot of health and also you need to heal (don't forget to use the +50 damage reaction to heal more)

still this is a very good game i cannot wait until the next sequel this should really be a complete game on a cd you can play on your computer (once its finished)

Pseudolonewolf responds:

The graphics are how they are because I wanted them like that, not because of limitations. I could've made them vectors, but I've wanted to make an RPG with these graphics for ages.
It seems some people just don't get, though, that it's possible to actually *want* to make or play a game with graphics considered 'outdated'. Maybe some of us *like* those graphics?

Pretty bloody good

I'm not usually one to write reviews, but considering what other people have said I figured it was only fair if I gave an honest view.

Graphics/Style were good, noth the backround and characters looked good throughout, a strong FF3 feel.

Sound was great, didn't get annoying until you've been playing nearly an hour or so.

Violence/Interactivity was as good as you would expect from an rpg like this. An interesting counter act system.

Humor, everyone to their own on this one.

Overall it is a good game, worthy of a 5, hopefully the next will have some more sense played into the dungends. Being posioned after every fight and only having a small chance of getting an antidote after each it just one of the few minor faults which can easily be fixed later in the game.

Just as a small extra, the storyline within just this very first chapter seems very well thoughtout, and although I may be the only one who thinks so at the moment, I am looking forward to the next release.

good game , i like RPG games and this one looks like FF3 , it was funny to like : 'we'll put our swords in there arses' and 'thooho or something'

Pseudolonewolf responds:

Yes... I can see that YOU totally took in and understood the dialogue. o_O

Great Game!

Should of been longer though. I was really confused why you were so powerful already at the beginning, only to find out that is was just two boys with alot of imagaination...... But there were no challenging monsters, when you were a hero, or when you were two little boys.

Pseudolonewolf responds:

It's only the introduction! It's not meant to be challenging just yet.
Though apparently a lot of people found The Dragon rather challenging. Hm.
Myes, to the point of quitting after losing to it. T_T
