Animation With Chalk

Author Comments

This very short, experimental animation is done with chalk on a chalk board. It doesn't have a story as it is only thirty seconds long but, the animation is good. I ask you to watch it for the animation. Also, I found some cool music in the Audio Portal by Johannski which goes perfectly with it. ENJOY!

Chrispy responds:

It's not supposed to be level with the rest of my work. I know I can do better as well. It really didn't have a point, it was just expirimental so, I figured I'd put it up, and it got excepted, with a decent score too, haha...damn math!

Needs some improvements.

First of all, the board wasn't clean when you started. If it's animation, the board should be clean unless you erase something in the animation and it's supposed to be like that. The graphics weren't that well. The music greatly matched the flash. Overall 5.

Chrispy responds:

Well thanks for your honesty but, actually, the board was clean, or as clean as it'll get anyway, it's not like the traditional school chalkboard, so, its not as deep a black, I wish it was. Either way, it was as clean as it'll get, and personally, I think the graphics were really smooth. And, so do most people.

Nice idea.

I haven't seen too many animations before done in this manner. Either way, it's done frame-by-frame (with a camera), which obviously takes a lot of work. Imperfections are present, but that's pretty irrelevant because it's pretty damn difficult to avoid it when you're doing an animation like this.

I agree with your choice in music. It does go really well with the animation. Nice selection. :D

The ending was peculiar with the spaceship turning the arachnid into a human/alien/etc. I liked it. XD

Overall nice work. I'd want to see more like this in the future.

Chrispy responds:

thank you very much :) I am glad you enjoyed it. I am considering some day making more, longer animations, perhaps even with plots, characters and voices. Or maybe more with just music. But, I'm working on a lot of stuff right now so, that'll have to be another day. Check out my other stuff if you want. I do stop motion with a character named Tinfoil Bob, that is my series :)

I like chalkamations

It was good, but it's pretty short. I voted 5 though because even though it's short, it's good and deserves to be put on Newgrounds. I love the music and it fits perfectly with the movie. The only graphic problem is the light in the bottom right flashes a little bit, but I think that's because you were changing the position that you were standing in while animating. And the camera tweaks around a bit. Graphics are good otherwise and the animation was smooth.

I dont know if the spaceship killed the first thing and turned it into an alien, so I put a 1 for violence! >:)

Chrispy responds:

Thanks a lot man, yeah, I noticed a few minor imperfections but, I'll be sure to fix them in the even I do another. The space ship actually turned the spider into a person/alien thingy, haha...atleast..maybe it did, Idk, thanks anyways :)

Probably not the right place

I imagine there are places that would really appreciate the art style of this, but I doubt NG is one of them. Personally it did nothing for me and seemed more or less pointless.
If you are not succesful here, try somewhere like DeviantArt.

Chrispy responds:

Well, thank you for your honesty, it was really just expirimental, I ask you to please check out my other stuff, it is much better with a story and humor and it's longer and all :)
