Shows potential, but you really need to have this running at 30+ fps.... I'm fairly sure its only running at 20 right now, and that is actually quite painful to watch.
It's hard to rate the story on the little presented here, but I look forward to seeing it developed. Combat definitely hurt the game, though - it all too often felt like a pure grind, where if you'd spent the time to get just one level higher, you wouldn't have any trouble with a boss, as opposed to getting trounced without mercy. (grinding isn't fun!)
But i got a bit dissapointed at the final boss, after my brutal battle with the pumpin worm queen that made me use.... 12 potions 2 nectars and the heal spell uncountable times, I just needed to use the heal spell 3 times on the final boss.
I leveled up around 4-5 levels from the pumpkin worms though so that might have been it
None the less a great game.
I like the new features, especially the awesome Special Attacks. very cool, I enjoyed this installment. can't wait to see what happens next, the story is becoming more perplexing. hope you introduce more important characters.
Another great chapter!
Ah, once again, it was surely great! Although, I didn't do the silo quest. Those [SPOILER] pumpkin worms are hard to beat. The bestiary said it had 1000 HP! If that was the HP of the pumpkin worms, I think I didn't want to know how strong the last silo boss was... Anyway, it was great to play! *sigh* Too bad for the MARDEK Series. The 3rd one isn't fully out yet. NO, it's already been released, but not onto Newgrounds. Ah, well.
[WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW]
For all of you players about to get on that train, check every barrel(even the ones with water in them), vase(only accessible BEFORE you go to sleep in the church) and chest. You'll need a lot of items if you are going to fight the last boss. The last boss is HORRIBLE. ... NO, not visually! ... Well, one of his attacks while it's hood is on may cause seizures... Anyway, the attacks used by the final boss are(I made up the names): Electro-Drain(Drains your HP to restore it's by using some sort of electric hand attack. It's possible to dodge. Is not possible to use(?) after the hood has been removed.), Spacial Magic(the screen turns dark with the robot thing the only thing visible, then the camera zooms onto the front of it, it's chest lights up and fires a laser, sending Gustave into space, then uses some odd magic to harm him, then we're back on the battlefield. It does high damage, and is impossible to dodge. This attack may cause seizures to players. Is not possible to use(?) after the hood has been removed.), Electro-Laser(After the hood has been removed, the robot thing raises it's arms up, and a laser of lightning shoots out from the ground. Is possible to dodge.), X-ray Shock(After the hood has been removed, a wide and tall laser of light comes from the robot's chest, causing Gustave's bones to be seen(?). Soon, the laser ends, causing damage to Gustave. Does almost as much damage as Spacial Magic, and is impossible to dodge(?).) I recommend having a few of each of the shopkeeper's potions and nectar. I also recommend having his character equipment equipped. Buying Battle Mode is optional. Me, personally, I didn't. I also recommend having your level at least 13. Walk in circles in the room filled with darkness until you have enough soyebs and at level 13 or higher. I ended at level 14(I got an extra level after beating the boss, making it 14.) Hope this is useful.
Those bosses take a pounding, small tip if your just about to play, rind a bit and get a few potions together before you get on the train... lol You have a very good concept here, im liking this.
