On the Art and the Rot within Socialism's Heart
It is simplistic in style (similar to my own in some ways) but communicates what It sets out to communicate. You've been looking at a lot of soviet era propaganda, right? So you should know that you aren't totally limited to red, yellow, and black.
Try and make your style a bit more powerful. Right now it kind of looks like the kind of clammy graphics that indicate whether a bathroom is for men or women. Look at Frank Miller's work in Sin City (the comic, not the movie) It helped me tremendously with my own style.
How about a white background with black stars in the night sky, or vice versa, instead of featureless, overwhelming black? Or perhaps you could have the sky flash a bright orange when the fireworks go off.
That overwhelming black sky made the one scene with black buildings and a yellow outline look like a crude atari game. Put some details on those buildings. if you want to keep it.
Also, what if you had red objects outlined with gold and gold objects outlined with red? Not for everything, but perhaps for key features to break up the monotony of gold on gold and red on red.
The Socialist blames others for his own failings, rather than striving to overcome them. He reasons that since he is miserable, everyone else should suffer as he does, self-condemmned to the fires of mediocrity.
His weapons are Altruism and Resentment, by which he seeks to make others feel guilty for not severely harming themselves for the sake of others as he has, and attempts to shame them into hurting themselves as he has, when if he would just stop hurting himself he might actually not suffer anymore.
He willfully Ignores the existance people who do not suffer for their charities, who give only what they can, rather than metaphorically martyr themselves for little overall benefit. Claiming to be opressed by the wealthy and successful, the socialist is only oppressed by the socialist. The tragedy is that he means well.
"In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man's proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours.." - Ayn Rand
I am not an Objectivist. However, I have a great deal of respect for the individual, an unshakable belief in self-determination (free will) and understand that the state need not have great power and authority over every aspect of people's lives to be effective and perform it's proper functions effectively. The strongest state can arrive in a few minutes, but life and death affairs are typically a matter of seconds.
Actually the sky flashes in all the colors that the fireworks are.
I really didnt like what was written there, because it makes no sense. A socialist doesnt want to make anyone guilty, he wants to make everyone happy. Those who help the society by a heroic deed will be respected and attain a lot of fame.
I dont want corporations to control every aspect of my life, therefore I support a stronger state, which protects people from exploitation by companies and guarantees them many rights, including the right to have a job, but also free education and free healthcare.
I got a bit bored watching it.
What's special about the 7th of November?
The cities are indeed rather nicely drawn. (Traced, I presume?) Colours are indeed well-chosen. Fireworks looked good, as did the rippling of the plain red flag.
After the first set of fireworks, it kind of went downhill in my opinion. Repeating all the images seemed a bit cheap and added little.
I felt that the shots were generally held too long with not a lot going on in the frame. It kinda got dull.
Apart from the fireworks, you never really timed anything to the beat - a few of the scene changes seemed badly timed and you made little use of the alternating 'moods' near the end. You could have been far more sensitive to the music, I felt.
Some well drawn graphics, but generally could have benefited from some more empathy for the changing tempo and moods of the music.
I got a bit bored watching it.
Also, I felt it didn't really speak for itself at all - I had no idea whether this was a parody or not whilst watching, though I read all your responses afterwards. Maybe putting in a date or an indication that it was set in the future might have helped us realise that.
I'm not going to discuss politics in this space.
7th November is the day of the Great Socialist October Revolution and the day of the declaration of the Chinese Soviet Republic (Jiagxi Soviet)
You must have had a slow computer if it wasn't synchronised when watching it.
What a poor review. This movie isn't worth a rating of only 4.
(You probably didn't watch the movie to its end, otherwise you wouldn't have asked whether its a parody or not.)
My opinion (not like anyone cares though)
First of all I think socialism and communism are very flawed systems of government that inevitably leads to fascism.
Secondly who the hell would be celebrating this, I mean look at the facts there are riots in the streets of Rome which ATM needs to be bailed out. Theres also Russia, look how great there doing right now. Whatever.
Lastly, I found it ironic that the 1812 overture was played which was also the main revolutionary song in the movie V for Vendetta.
I just people are going to think this is a useless review.
You said it's ironic but you didnt say why.
And you havent provided any review on my flash.
But you are right, when saying that your review is useless.
I don't think so
Decent, but you're wrong about the left growing each year, the left only grows more aggressively left but doesn't grow in numbers, more people are becoming conservative or even far right.
Even right wing parties get dragged to the left. In Europe all moderate right wing parties support social welfare and a social state. If they didnt support such socialist elements in their country, no one would vote for them.
all this will do is spark the next world war
this is how it starts dictators or greedy punks that have no sense of how it will end and in this world it will end with a spark f death that will fly to evry man woman and child and with me i feel the end will come soon or atleast we will be left in a universe that will become our enemy if we think that we can make all equal or let ourselves think that if we keep up a war torn world and make it one people we will die off into things we have forgotten and then we will all die without war there is no peace and if you oppress we will rise if you want peace we will make peace but as one country one world we will never make it to that if we let ourselves think we are equal i am not fond of things like this infact i hate this the only way to achieve is to stay as individuals unimesom is true atleast in my mind so fare well but i do not think of you like i am
