Yeah, I do notice an increase in quality. I think I've realized why people say that the first one is better. Broadly, I think it has to do with the type of drawing you're good at - humans, versus effects like blood, lasers and all that stuff. The first one was rather minimal and simplistic in design, so it went a lot smoother than an action intensive design.

I think it was a good shot of needed backstory and some tragedy with a character we're barely introduced to - which is something remarkable. Interesting idea using the cross as a symbol then using "Eden" as a name for something that strikes down religion and free will.
