Session 3: Preloaders

9/18 Update: Just fixed a bug.
It's been a long time since I did one of these, I finally switched to Flash MX. I've mega compressed it to 100+ KB for all you dial-ups. Hope you learn something.
What would you like to see next?

If you're wondering why you get this error:

Target not found: Target="undefined" Base="_level0"

It's because the loader bar could not be found. This is okay, because when you open the .swf the file will load immediately, leaving no time to control the loader bar. It will work fine when you upload it to a website.

not bad...

The tutorial itself is pretty basic stuff, but the way you designed it has made this one of the best I've seen in a while... good stuff

Loved it.

Your tutorials are awesome, they learn me something others dont.
I would realy appreaciate if you make a tutorial about platformer games with powerups and moving objects and warp objects etc.

again, thanks for this great tutorial.

great idea!

Someone who spent their time just to help others make better flash? Excellent. You get a 5.

Good, but a little more info

I really liked this, it sort of taught me how to do a loader bar (I had to play with it for a looooong time and I had to repair the code myself, but I see you just fixed that). I still don't know how to do a 'bar' loader, the loader I created was screened by an upper layer while the image moves slowly into view, making it appear to be a loader. You might also want to include how to test your loader (it's an option somewhere in the preview window, like "Simulate Download") I know you know that, but I had to figure it out for myself. Just trying to be helpful!

u no what it said when i did that

Target not found: Target="undefined" Base="_level0"

and i downloaded it and it still said

Target not found: Target="undefined" Base="_level0"

un-mediocre responds:

Whoa, glad you found that. I just fixed it ;)
