gray hurts my eyes. =) and if this were truly designed for black and white, then why do the rockets for weapon 1-3 look like oblong parachutes? the enemies were well designed however. so props on that.
for me it was fun until the third boss. i don't know why, i just suddenly lost interest after that. maybe because i blew my money on the wrong weapons.

Pretty small file sized for a game this good. I saw this game in the motivate me sectoin of the flash forum. And they said it would probabbly make front page... i think its a good game the only things that bugged me a bit were teh sound reptiition and those god damn turret things :) but i liked the game.

Ok I didn't have time to progress far in this AND review so I chose to review rather than go far. Still I think I got far enough to give a fair review.
Graphics - I liked the way you did this, and like you said in your own comments it certainly upped your style points. Was the method that you used to animate this anything like the way David Firth used to make "A Black And White Cartoon About Roof Tiling"? Just thats what at least the flame effects reminded me of. But yep, graphics well done, nice lotta detail on the models too. Hence a nice beefy 8.
Style - Again its the whole Monochrome theme that does it here and the fact its nicely done. Otherwise its just a particularly good scrolling space shooter, and we've ALL seen 100 of those right? But this has something most of those don't and thats class. If someone else did nigh on exactly the same againt hen nope, would be crap but this is original and looks good and plays well. Nice 9 for Style ^_~
Sound - Gotta admitt the music on the levels I experienced was getting on my nerves by the 3rd level. That said I understand sound can be a bugger and increase size of a file a lot if you make it too varied. Still the sound got on my nerves so only a 5 here I'm afraid.
Violence - Not really about the violence factor here. You shoot things, they blow up. Sorta violent but not much detailt hat can eb gon into without being silly. So althoough only a 4 not gonna be counted towards Overall.
Interactivity - For a scrolling space shooter this is pretty nifty ont he interactivity levels. Money and upgrades can go a long way to increasing the playability of a game. One thing I did feel was maybe a tad silly (but it generally is across the whole genre hence why not a massive decrease in points) is the being able to just hold down the fire button constantly. Maybe include accuracy onto score systems or even make an ammo limit and make players buy ammo or something? I dunno your the boss! But still a pretty good 7 here.
Humor - What doy ou call a fast duck? A quick duck. Just like that lame joke this isn't really meant to be funny me thinks. Hence a 0 and not being included when deciding Overall.
Overall - Definatly deserving its front page position. I'd like to see what else you can get to the front page in the future, going by this is should be pretty good. 8.
The music changes every 10 levels to keep you interested, hence all the music in the sound test
I don't care what everyone here has to complain about this, all my 5 are belong to this. Not only did you put in a bunch of weapons and enemies, but I actually needed to use different strategies for different groups of enemies, instead of the usual 'save up for the best weapon and use it'. This game was perfectly balanced, I ended up $500 short to buy the very last upgrade I could've bought at level 70. Nice! It kept my attention the full 70 levels. I think the only complaint I have is that the ending was a bit disappointing...since there wasn't really any. After hours of gameplay you usually expect a nice ending movie or a cheat code or password or whatever, so that kinda put me down. Anyway, great job, and don't let go of your style! I absolutely loved magnetism, this is also a definite favorite, so keep 'em coming!
