really fun and challenging game, smooth game play and it seems that some times when I barely get hit by bullets they miss me instead of the other way around which is great. If you're like me you probably have a hard time choosing what weapon to use here's a guide to help.

******WEAPONS GUIDE******
There are three types "primary" guns as I call them and two types of "secondary" missile launchers. if you want to beat the game, I highly recommend that if your goal is to beat the game you should ALWAYS KEEP WHAT EVER WEAPON YOU HAVE MAXED OUT. if you die, I would restart from save file because it makes the game a million times easier to beat with one life, then if you have to start from bottom tier weapons all over again.
When I refer to something being OFFESIVE, I mean you will have to focus on killing enemy's quickly before they shoot rather then dodging. If something is DEFENSIVE, you can let the gun do all the work while you focus on dodging.

Blue- Pure OFFENSIVE weapon, this weapon deals MASSIVE DAMAGE, it can kill most bosses in a matter of a few hits however it has no spread which makes dealing with mass enemy's terribly hard. When maxed out it shoots one large beam in a straight line about the size of your ship in width. (I recommend combining with homing missiles)

Red- this is a NUETRAL weapon. This is the easiest weapon to level up because you start out with it, there for picking up your first square will put you at tier 2. This can be an OFFENSIVE or DEFENSIVE weapon by the way you use it. If you move all the way back when it is on max tier its spread will cover most of the screen with bullets I consider this the defensive tactic because you can dodge and let the spread kill everything, however if you move very close to a boss its entire spread will hit it and deal High damage and you will risk getting shot point blank, but still even with the whole spread it will not do more damage then maxed blue beam.( I recommend combining with regular missiles)

Purple- This is a pure DEFENSIVE weapon. at first this was my favorite weapon, but as time goes on you'll find its terribly weak and ineffective compared to others. It locks on target to enemy's and deals damage over time leaving you to focus on dodging rather then aiming. However I find this a very good starting weapon until you've reached max tier, then I recommend switching. ( I recommend combing with regular missiles)

Regular missiles(M): These are OFFENSIVE. This deal much higher damage then homing missiles but only fire in a straight line.

homing missiles (H): These I consider DEFENSIVE will lock on target, even to enemies behind you. However they are very weak.

Now all that is left for you to choose a combo of the two that will be the most effective, right off the bat I want to say PURE DEFENCE AND PURE OFFENCE COMBOS ARE TERRIBLY UNNEFECTIVE. If you choose missile with blue beam, you will be killed to easily by groups of enemies and if you choose homing missiles with purple beam you will be killed by stronger enemies.

pure offence: blue beam with missiles, this combo leave you terribly open however can kill a boss in less then a second, if you see the opportunity arise, it might be wise to switch to this right before a boss.

Pure defense: purple beam with homing missiles, at the start of a wave this can be useful but when stronger ships come ESPECIALLY BOSSES, you will find that they will cover the screen with bullets before you have them killed.

offensive: blue beam with homing missiles, this is good because homing missiles will take care of the mass low health ships, while you can focus your blue beam on strong ships. You can also beat bosses easily with this combo because of the blue beam.

Defensive: Purple beam with normal missiles, Basically use the same strategy as offensive but reversed. Your beam will take care of mass units while you can aim your missiles at stronger ships. Your auto aim attack (purple beam) will deal much more damage then the homing missiles, how ever your aimed attack (missiles) will deal less damage then the concentrated blue beam.

Neutral #1: red gun with normal missiles. This is a great combo because you can spread your bullets to target many enemies at once, and continue to aim your missiles at strong ships and bosses. If you move in, now you can deal your entire spread damage AND missile damage. This method is slightly more OFFENSIVE then Neutral #2.

Neutral #2: red gun with homing missiles. This is not a recommending combo because it is generally weak. However when a strong ship comes, you can move in close and shoot it will your entire spread while homing missiles cover you from small enemies.

MY COMBO: I ALWAYS USE NEUTRAL#1. It is a little easier to get max tier and I find that the missiles alone are enough to handle bosses with a little help with the massive spray of bullets. This combo can be used to adapt to almost every situation.

I hope this helped.
