Update:
WORKING RADAR!!!!! Hope that helps...

Note: READ THIS FIRST!!!!!!!

This is a physics demo/trainer for a project I'm working on. The main purpose is mainly to see how feasable space combat would be using somewhat accurate physics. As such, there isn't really much of a game here yet. Let me know how playable you think the game will be.

Controls:
Up arrow: Main (Forward) Thrusters
Down arrow: Retro Thrusters (1/4 strenght of mains)
Left/Right arrows: Rotation Thrusters
End: All Stop (speed must be less than 5)
Space: Fire.

Note that the gun has a small ammount of kick to it when you fire.

Tips: The retro thrusters are useless at high speeds...to slow down, point you ship in the opposite direction and fire your mains. You don't have to have the drone on the screen in order to hit it...fire along the little green line (don't forget to lead your target!)Good luck, and please be patient with the controls.

needs work

The ship loses attitude control really fast and it's near impossible to correct, the all stop button doesn't work, and most of the time I feel like I'm just being whipped around that central hub. if I ever had to aim at something I'd never be able to point the lasers at it in time.

The radar is useless. The perspective is too close (the ship should be much more distant). Anything that might be nearby you wouldn't be able to see (and the radar wouldn't help).

The HUD should be along the bottom of the screen (I didn't even see it there until some time after i started floating around space like a lost moth).

The physics are pretty good, but they need tweaking to make the ship controllable.

The background (starfield) moves convincingly at least, but it's a tad bland.

Keep working on it, though. This might make a cool space game.

One suggestion would be for there to be a tactical interface (ever play star raiders) where you could look over the nearby sectors to seek out enemy ships. I'm not sure what kind of game you're making though...

not bad...

not to bad,but i had some trouble finding my targets,a real radar would be nice, also, why is topspeed 501?in space you can travel lightspeed normaly...anyways,good job,but the physics are to realistic 4 a good game, its like your bungee jumping in space, improve them a bit,and you have a great game!

Smackmud responds:

Hehe....you ever try traveling at lightspeed? Last time I checked the theory of relativity, it was impossible....
The speed cap is neccissary to prevent COMPLETE loss of control.

I like it...

I havn't ever played a game like this... this is something new to me so you get a High vote 5/5

Needs work

It's not that bad, physics are to sling-shot style though.

I was a high speed battle commander.

I patrolled the galaxy destroying anyone who stood in my way and killing every crimanal in my sector.

Smackmud responds:

Wow man, you bad ass, going around and destroying a bunch of mindless drones and all! :P
