About the Homestarrunner format, yes, it is the same format, but that shouldnt be the focus... I mean, Conan O'Brien is the same format as Jay Leno, but what is important is what they say, and what happens on their shows, not the format itself.
Some might say that Dojo Swordsman Bob is a jerk, but I think that it is partially the fault of the others who do not take the time to understand how he feels and that he feels he is not treated nice by his fellow swordsmen, much of the time. And maybe he is a bit of a jerk sometimes too, but aren't we all?

yeah, cause strongbad e-mails are funny, good & voiced well, this is none of that, so good idea to not focus on that as you say
so what do we have here besides that? paper stick figure drawings, yet another concept from strong bad e-mail(his lil diagrams or the school girl thing, your pick)
and.....that's it? wow......my advise "re-format" the entire project cause this is just chewed gum on strong bad e-mail's shoe
I will agree that tweaking the format might help to appease the complaints of peeps who feel that it is too similar to SB. I truly do want to use the program to say my own stuff, though, I just like the idea of replying to emails, getting the audience involved in the process.
Okay, a few things
First of all, I agree with you that it's perfectly alright to have something in a similar format as another work. However, this submission isn't just similar, it's exactly the same. Think about it: a fighter checking emails and messing with the writer's name. Also, the animation of the typing needs some major work, and straight lines would be nice for the computer.
You could potentially have a good series here if the format were given some originality. Like maybe he has IM conversations or something. I also like the "visual aid" component, and I think that would be a good thing to incorporate into a series.
