**March 27th, 2005 Update:
I've redone all the narration, and fixed some of the minor problems with the movie. I wont re-submit, but just edit this file.**

I always thought that The Raven was a pretty interesting poem, so when the opportunity arose to animate it for a school English project I sat down for a week and made it. The artwork in this movie was mostly inspired by Tim Burton, as well as the music. Also, Scary Doll's "Los Dias Sin Dias" was a huge inspiration in creating this animation. His unique style changed my entire thinking on Flash animation. I know i kind of copied your house dude, but at least I admit it!

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this recreation! Check out my site for more stuff! www.IndyAnimation.tk

Well, this was a word for word rendition of the poem. I can't really tell you to do any more. It's just everything that the poem is! I guess I forgot how long this was. I guess it might be a bit too long. You still definitely had your own style.

I have forgotten how much narrative this had. Poems can certainly be epic. I guess it's just been too long since I've heard the whole thing. I was wondering what kind of style this was similar to. I could easily figure out it was from "The Nightmare Before Christmas".

Underwhelming

Now I have been told...repeatedly...that I often expect too much, but come on, man. Your delivery of this poem was dry and emotionless and the "art style" lacks any real depth or feeling. The entire tone of this piece..in my opinion...is much darker and more macabre than you've made it seem. I do appreciate the work, though, and I do understand that making flash is a hard and time-consuming process. Overall, I think this was a fairly good piece, I just think it could have used a bit more work.

Pretty good.

Bravo.

A lot of people have given you the exact same criticism, so I'm just gonna quit that and say GREAT JOB. This as really neat - I couldn't have done it better myself.

Alright

The narration sucked.

Not done to it's potential.

This could have been very good. The main problem was the narration, in the beginning it went far to fast, was emotionless and was mumbled so it ended up sounding like
"onceuponamidnightdrearyasipon deredweakandweary"
and if I hadn't already known the words I wouldn't have caught what you were saying. The odd style of art WAS a LOT like Tim Burton's, and in places, simply copied from him. (The portrait of "Lenore") However, if the narration was good, I wouldn't care about borrowed peices as much as I do now, because I was looking to the artwork and style to redeem this movie. It was not enough to do so. Replace the narration with someone who sounds as if they CARE, and maybe I would care too.
