good like for a newbie, but yeah, needs work. try adding this:

- levels
- bosses

This is game is in its early stages of being made, and this is the first game I have ever made. I plan on adding more levels that get harder as you progress, more types of enemies, power ups such as shields and double fire power, and the abiltity to gain more lives when you reach a certain score. So just send me some feedback and any suggestions, for when I release it again with more features.

You really need to simply change that amazingly annoying sound, it gets REAL annoying very quickly!! irritating!! >:(.
You might also want to try and reduce the number of times you can fire in a given time... seeing as this makes the game very easy to just create a massive wall...
It would also be better if you would move the start position.... that way, you can actually see your ship when it starts again.

I thinkith this game could easily get blammed. If there isnt another one being made then ther should. And please make it better

1 there needs to be levels and possibly bosses theres a gliche if your in the top two character areas of the screen your character doesn't die also at the very top of the screen the players ship can not return down this might just happen after 500 shots or 130 hits i;m not sure also the screen is too long and too thin finally the gameplay slows down when two many shots are fired as rapid fire is easy to accomplish this becomes problematic and makes the game much easier

It was ok the controls were easy. But just tapping th space bar and goin' back and forth got a little boring. P.S. Are the explosions from metal slug?
