The following cartoon is about a young man named Pleasant Dave who, as we join him in this story, is telling some children about his sad life and how he wound up in this orphanage (or orphanariage as it is called in this city). Will Dave be able to escape the orphanariage?
Pleasant Dave was created after a trip to the movie theatre about one year ago. This is what the original cartoon, "Pleasant Dave: Harm and Pineapple", was based upon, which can be viewed at http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=79218. After we found out that that cartoon was going absolutely no where, and made no sense at all, we decided to make another version. One with slightly improved graphics, and a better story. This was working out well until the original voice of Pleasant Dave lost interest in the cartoon. So we got BiZ to take over the role. When he first saw the second version of the cartoon, he said it looked like crap. At first we didn't agree, but then I tried drawing the characters in a different style, and that was the birth of the current characters. The story has also undergone massive changes ever since the original version, in what seems about 15 different storylines. Some parts of this episode were cut, for a various number of reasons. In the scene where Dave is talking to Booer (The part where you find out his name is Booer was cut), another character was supposed to come into the room, but this part was cut because it would add about a minute to the cartoon, and the cartoon is probably already long enough. This scene will be found in the next episode. Oh yeah, you can also expect a commentary to be released within a few days, featuring myself (InoMan), JoshPal, Ronchy McSmutbag, and BiZ.
The cartoon features special guest appearances by the original characters from Harm and Pineapple, and the Even Timmins from the Even Timmins Power Hour (Can be viewed at http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=109116). See if you can notice them!
This is one of the earliest flash animations I've seen on the internet, I'll never forget it. I'm so glad it's on Newgrounds, I remember finding this on an entirely different (now dead) site in 2004 called YouFunny.

I like this movie,I I knew it was DBZ somehow from the look.I guess from the hair.Nyway,I think I'll vote a 8 out of ten and on the 1-5 vote a 5.

Well I i give it a ten. But I'm a bit biased seeing as how I co-created it. Thank you to all those who liked the flash. To you haters sayin it needs to be more like DBZ, relax, it will be, with time. Any old idiot can make an unoriginal piece of work with little or no story-line, just fighting. It takes true talent to come up with an original story line, and not give evrything away in the first few moments. The DBZ look was also created months b4 we had a finished working script of the flash, just so you know. So give it time, the flash gets better, and if I'm not mistaken the next episode has fighting in it. Thanx again to those who liked, and to those who didn't, well at least you gave constructive critisim...mostly.
P.S the character resemblance to those of DBZ is unintentional, we tried to creat original looking characters, for the most part, with the anime style in mind.

Very very nice movie. Pretty funny, and nice animation and sound. Plus, the music from hitchhikers guide to the galaxy on the bbc didnt hurt it. I cant wait for part 2!
to be honest...
to be honest your animation was inconsistent, some pics were done well while other oens sucked, it ws like diff artists were working on the movie. you should take pride in every image so that it is consistent, your humor is a lil on the weird side, and pleasant dave seemed more like homosexual dave...other than that, i see you have a strong interest in dbz as oen of your characters resembled Ubuu as the other resembled Goku...with that being said, u cant pass off the dbzish animation without having dbzish things, like fireballs, explosion, high speed air fighting and etc. Otherwise, its just a weird skit with ppl in weird outfights, like who talks to random kids in a karate gi....and doesnt fight? anyway, nice try, good flash work, i appreciate the time u put in it...
