Here is its eulogy, a collection of the kind words written about it while still among the living. They shall live on forever in its place.
I kinda regret making this...
Animations were well done and made me laugh quite a bit. The beginning of Skyward Sword is being overused but that doesn't mean you cannot do a good job with it still. Good work.
Bro you did really well with the animation of this one. The only complaints I have with this is are:
- Gaps in dialogue and jokes leaving listening to nothing for some period of time felt a bit awkward. I really personally think that trying to patch up those parts of just quiet (I'm mainly referring to the Loftwing jokes) with something. Even just gawking into a microphone with subtitles would have left me feeling a little less de-immerse-ified (?) and in my opinion would have made that bit look a whole lot more professional. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, but I did feel it could use some working on.
- When Zelda is being targeted by Ghirahim's tornado, it looked sort of lame (take it lightly I don't mean to offend) considering the only things that looked alive in the shot was the aiming reticule and the clouds in the background. I would have found a bit nicer if the birds had some movement rather than just being static at that point at least.
- The transitions between fading in and out of music was too drastic in my opinion, it felt really hollow when the music faded down to a sort of nothing during the bug in face gag (which I might add was fuckin hilariously animated with that big bug). It didn't kill it, but it did take away some proffessional feeling to the movie with big gaps in dialogue with that much movement on screen.
- Only other thing i want to mention is the fact that some of the mic quality was a bit sketchy and I think it couldn't have hurt to do a second take on some of the lines just for perfection sake. In the future I would recommend getting a cheap but high quality mic at a computer hardware store. For $50 I picked up a headset that has almost proffessional mic quality that I use for videogames, but I digress.
BUT. DO NOT THINK THIS UNDERMINES THE ANIMATION QUALITY!
By far, the one thing that impressed me most about this was the amount of amazing detail and effort you obviously put into the drawings in this cartoon. Zelda looked amazingly detailed in all her shots, as did Link. The loftwings were amazingly drawn considering they're not even real creatures so basing a skeleton and posture off something that doesn't exist is really impressive. Fi was done really, really well too. The obvious amount of effort to the models was evident too, so please acknowledge how well you did there. The lip syncing was beautiful as well, spot on with that the whole way.
The jokes you incorporated were for about 99% of the time great. Easy to relate to if you played the game and if you didn't. Even the little "well duh" visual joke with the eyeballs made me smile, and it's that attention to detail that defines a good animator from a great one. The joke about dropping the sword made me laugh and the side-mouth "ehahahah--shut up" was really really well drawn and voice acted.
Overall the cartoon was really well done. And I really applaud your work, as it was a solid, solid animation with a foundation of mainly good humour (only a couple hit and misses for me). As you know the only draw back was some of the atmosphere and animating shortcuts you might have taken that sort of upset me a bit, leaving some parts feeling way to static for my liking, but overall the amount of effort you put in really made me enjoy this that much more.
Really good work and I hope to see more of you in the future.
this reminds me of super mario.
you gotta save some dumb bitch that gets her ass kidnapped all the time.
Must've been SOOOO hard to get the actual game music XD
The loftwings were funny. Good job
