Welcome to the Pixelmas Shorts Collaboration! It's where you use the pixel tool and make a Christmas themed animation. It could be funny, serious, weird, anything as long as it has to do with Christmas. Santa, Jesus, presents, and all the other good stuff are great things to use.

PART LIST

Call the part you want.
Please, you must have quality parts though.
I will deny if your part doesn't meet quality.
I might add parts if it is needed.

SPECS

Stage Size: 550 x 400
Frame Rate: 24fps
Background: White. (Make your own)
Label all you symbols with your username. (IE brick would be mexifry_brick)

RULES

1. You must have some sort of plot to your animation. I'm pretty lenient on this one, but just random junk will be denied.
2. No Sprites/Sticks/Crew Figures within reason. I'm not completely shutting all these out, but they must be very good AND pixelated.
3. Make them appropriate. like not 17+ rated.
4. Yes, you can use sounds. In fact, it is encouraged that you voice act or add music to your part.
5. Make your part at least 5-30 seconds in length. (Don't go too overboard)
6. Don't bitch about coauthors.
7. V-cam is cool.
8. Parts Saved in CS3 or Lower.
9. Email it to me at everettabbott@gmail.com or at mexifry895@mac.com.
DUE DATE

The due date is December 20th! Sorry it is such a short period of time, but I want this out by Christmas.

So, lets get this started!

I just tryed out the pixel tool, but it doesn't actually look very pixely. IT basically just replicates paints which does draw in pixels but unless you zoom way in it's hard to tell it's pixelated

You can change the size of the tool in the properties window.
All the way up to a 200 x 200 block.

It sounds like a pretty interesting idea but if it's based on pixels, how can you not have sprites?

Like I said in the post or two ago, you use The Pixel Tools Extension.

Example of what the pixel tool extension can do.

Well, what if you make your own sprites, without using the pixel tool, would that be acceptable?

As long as your part is decent, then go for it.
I will decline if it doesn't meet a quality standard.

Response to The Pixelmas Shorts Collab 2008-11-22 00:40:51

Well, I'd like to try it but I may not be able to finish a part on time, so if you could, could you like reserve a spot for me?

Sure.
As long as you meet quality, Your spot is saved. :)

Come on.
10 seconds at least by December 20th?

I'm positive you can do it!

If the transition isn't taken yet, I'd like to see what I can do, I already made one but it's a little bit basic.

When ever you feel you have finished or made a preview, upload it and post in this thread with a description of what part you were attempting.

Or just a preview really.

I'm going to set you as the transition part cause I like the concept a lot.
Just needs some fine touchs. :)

Aight.
Post a preview of your actual part when you make some progress.
I want those ones to be super good. :)

Not saying you're bad, It's just I have no track record of you.

Er....I don't get how to install it or whatever once downloaded....

dude

Response to The Pixelmas Shorts Collab 2008-11-22 02:21:57

It's right on the same page as the download, but here it is any way.

# How to Install:

* NOTE: these installation instructions are the exact same for Macs.
* Close Flash
* Open Adobe/Macromedia Extension Manager
* Click "Install New Extension" and open the MXP file. Follow installation instructions
* Re-open Flash. Open a document or start a new document (a document must be open to continue installation.) Go to Edit (Flash Basic/Professional on Mac OS X) > Customize Tool Panel. Under "Available Panels" your four pixel panels will be available. You cannot create a new group for them, but you can put them under an existing panel as a subset. A good place to put them under would be the pencil tool.

Anyways, part 5 please.

Um... you better make a good part.
Your batting average is sub par. (2.94)

So Until you show me something, you're in the maybe zone.

The amount of layers doesn't matter, right?
