Glad to have you here tox! Been a long time coming!

It's rare someone jumps on with saves and posts of all stats too, usually it's EXP and Saves first and foremost.

I mean i have been generally pretty active with the elite guard barracks of late, im averaging roughly 2000-2600 saves/blames a month currently or similar to gurthie or byslinger numbers

Thanks for the update! I've definitely slowed down, mostly on the medals front and frequently forgetting to deposit on the weekend. If I could just get the weekend back down that'll add 20 more points a week that I'm missing out on.

Thinking my pace will be closer to 500 in the upcoming updates, but that should be enough to get me up another place next time around.

Nice. Might be getting into the monthly Top Gainer spots soon too then.

Noo forgotten deposits when there was a possibility for 'em... they do stack up.

Still a fair share better than most people on the list though for sure. Could be jumping a couple spots more with the update after that.

I've missed weekend deposits about 90% of the time over the last few years. I just don't like using newgrounds on mobile devices so the only time I use the site is when I'm at work!

Woah. Though probably a good thing that. I do try to disconnect entirely myself during summer, feels good to, but when there is a computer nearby... Weekends are when I usually catch up with all things digital that spare time on weekdays doth not provide for.

No computer at all at home though? Is that a conscious decision? You can find 'em pretty cheap otherwise.

Yeah, I use to be a computer hawk on the weekend as well, but once I got an office job where I stare at a computer screen 8 hours a day I've found that I've just wanted to unplug when I get home. With how I train throughout the week I usually use the weekend to watch a movie and naps haha.

So I might watch half a movie on netflix, fall asleep for 3 hours in the middle of the day/movie, and then wake up/finish the movie and spend some time with my family.

What kind of job did you have before? I went from a more physical one to an office one too but I don't think I've changed at all. XD Maybe have more of a wish to unplug now, but all the more digital dues regardless. Ah well. Shall find a balance in time. A proper workout regimen would probably bring about a better focus too, and maybe let you be more in tune with your body; know when you really need to rest. How much of a digital lifestyle's enough.

I could never fall asleep in the middle of a movie either but that sounds nice. A dreamy kind of weekend life.

I managed a retail store before I got this office job. Was on my feet and moving for 8 hours at a time and hardly ever on a screen other than to clock in/make the next schedules.

4 0 ***** DoctorStrongbad 65,768 23,803 222,017 24,900 4,600 13,524 354,612 +3008

That is a gain of 440 on number three. With a difference of 1668.

If all goes well, I should be third place in five months or less.

Had to go back and look if the top of the list really hadn't changed in the last twenty years... seems it was actually pretty different just back in 2003. Just one of these users still seems to be active now, unless I'm not caught up on name changes...

Yes, I am not the best with name changes, but it seems to be the same people in the top ten at least for the last ten years or so.

The point is getting into the top 10 is not easy, the top five very challenge, the top three almost impossible, and becoming number one is a lifetime achievement. I would love to be be able to reach the high someday.

Mmm a lot more similar there indeed, though the previous #1 is now #10 and dwindling, and both ViceFullbuster and harryjarry seem to have fallen way down the list. Old toppers slowly going down; new ones slowly coming in...

It took me around 12 years or so to hit the top five, and maybe 14 years to hit global rank number four. If I can pull it of this year, it would be 17 years to reach global rank number three.

I honestly don't believe that many people today would even consider such an insane goal today. Many newer users just throw away posts counts and start new accounts for no reason. Us old timers are just more driven and stubborn than the youngsters. Hell, the fact that I still create new topics in General is a perfect example. I make well thought out topics with meaning, and I get insulted by teenagers that can't even spell. lol

Ooh you actually calculated it! Nice. That'd be excluding occasional double EXP weekends and holidays then, as it is now maybe you'd manage top level in closer to nine than ten years.

But it's not impossible then...

Mmm, maybe you tend to give up around this particular stage, when levels start having big enough gaps between them it's no longer as motivating to try for them, and you lose a re-occurring sense of reward when you level-up...

So if that's a main incentive for being here maybe you give up...

You say that now but I wonder if you won't keep at it anyway if/when you actually get there. ;)

If you've already made it that far!

Huh, I didn't know about those, suppose I might have to skim his post history some day and read up.

It really is. I have always said that NewGrounds can swallow up your entire life, if you don't pay attention.

That's true. Especially if you have nothing better to do; nothing that seems more meaningful.

I honestly don't believe that many people today would even consider such an insane goal today. Many newer users just throw away posts counts and start new accounts for no reason. Us old timers are just more driven and stubborn than the youngsters. Hell, the fact that I still create new topics in General is a perfect example. I make well thought out topics with meaning, and I get insulted by teenagers that can't even spell. lol

Yeah it's strange how mindsets seem to have shifted. Sometimes users like kruno5 come around and it seems like there actually are new ones willing to get into the long haul grind, but then suddenly they just up and leave the site...

Seems like a certain ideal combination of circumstances are required for anyone to really get stuck here. A certain personality type for sure, but maybe also certain setbacks that fuel you further. Someone to compete with. In my case I left the site a while and came back with a newfound appreciation for it... maybe that's a requirement too...

Well maybe not. Some of the top toppers have been here from the start. Maybe all it really requires is an unreasonable and rare level of tenacity and dedication; ability to truly focus on one thing...
