Slowly working my way up to the top 100 here as well (as I am in B/P and in voting power).
This time I got more blams than saves, which is pretty cool. At least for me... shows that it IS possible to clear out the crap from the UJ phase. Also, I think I set my expectations a bit higher, which results in me pressing the '0' button more often, and because of that I get more blams. Easy. ^^

Posting is as slow as always... will take quite a while to get to 10k, lol.
Also, I only got 7 more reviews. STILL try to get back into reviewing, which sadly isn't that easy to do, now that the RRC is dead and after such a long break.

I did pretty well again and gained four ranks. Almost made my way into the top 60 :) Just need to pass ScottTowels who´s only one week away. I also got a nice amount of stats this month, better than in former months. Been quite active on the forums lately, so I think that´s the reason.

Thanks to the negative feedback I received (which I didn't have any of before posting the announcement), I've reconsidered the idea of including medal points in the 10k list and will add medals instead as Haggard suggested. I can understand why people weren't going to like the idea, so I hope having medals (not medal points) instead will be fine with you all. If everyone's fine with that, then the list will be a 2x10k Hexalist rather than the 3x10k I was considering. One thing, however, if it's approved by all, this won't be added to the list right away.

Now the only problem is: How to count the medals? Only way right now is to do that manually.... but maybe it will change some day. We don't even have 10k medals on NG right now and I guess it will take some time until we have... ^^

Alright. Well that´s a fine idea actually. Although it´s probably going to take loooong before 10,000 medals are out. Right now there are only 150 or so.

So you might as well wait with adding medals until they at least make a real difference in total stats. But you can´t alter the program so I suppose it´s going to take long anyway.

But yeah, blams take ages to attain these days, especially with slow B/P paces like mine. I'll put a little more effort into B/Ping after my exams are over. I don't know what I'm doing over the summer yet, but hopefully I'll have a little time for NG to B/P in and such.

+1600 is pretty good, 300 more than last update. :) But the time span was longer now, wasn't it?

Just do what I do and move the names to the right of each line. As long as you're only quoting 2-3 lines, it hardly takes any time at all. I see you already change the ***s and ****s to 3* and 4*, similar to how I spell it out to keep the columns in line.

Moving the names to the right is way easier than adding the right number of underscores next to the shorter names, IMO at least. #;-}>

I've heard mixed things about MGS4, actually. Some people compare it to watching a semi-interactive movie... say that it's too linear and not really that fun, though it is pretty and all.

That's insane if he thought a topic going without a post for less than a day meant it was going to die. After 100+ pages of sporadic but constant traffic, too...

Alsooooo eventually, could this list include Medal points? I mean I think there are nearly 2500 medal points to collect already. So it looks likely I suppose that soon enough there will be over 10,000 points for that to collect. Thoughts?

Beautifully put. That's exactly why I have an instant and instinctive negative response to the concept of medal points being added to the 10k+ list as well. Thanks for saying it much quicker than I woulda, too. #;-}>

I should add, of course, that my feelings towards adding actual medal count to the list are a bit more mixed. I certainly won't protest that change like I woulda the points one... since anyone earning 10,000 ACTUAL achievements deserves some freakin' awe, whereas points are more arbitrary and too easy to get too quickly. But... eh... still not the same sort of stat as the 5 we have now.

Then again, I already grumbled plenty about audio reviews being added to the list (either on their own or lumped in together with flash reviews), so I'm just a crusty old codger who resists change despite voting for Obama. I IZ A MESS OF CONTRADICTIONS. #;-}>

It's a stat on our profile pages ON THE RIGHT column. i.e. it's a stat just like how many newsposts we make is a stat... ON THE RIGHT... and how many comments we get to our newsposts is a stat.... ON THE RIGHT.... and how many favourites we've assigned is a stat... ON THE RIGHT... and how many flash or audio submissions we've submitted is a stat... ON THE RIGHT...

Besides, it STILL takes some time to get to 10k medal points, even though there will be lots of easy medals out there in the near future. But a user still needs to play those games to get the medals.

And, to be honest... how hard is it to make a post on the BBS? Should we now exclude posts from the list as well, because getting posts is too easy?

Now imagine a NG BBS world where you get 25 or 50 "post points" per post you make, though.

Now think of how fast someone can get to 10,000 "post points" versus how long it takes to get to 10,000 POSTS.

Now realise why I vastly prefer 10,000 medals to 10,000 medal POINTS. #;-}>

Well, I started the list simply because there were only THREE people who had 2 10k stats back in 2003. One who had 10k b/p and 10k exp (NemesisM66, IIRC?), one who had 10k b/p and 10k posts (biteme2516, IIRC?), and one who had 10k exp and 10k posts (Shrapnel, IIRC?)... and due to the rarity of this 2x10k status and due to the coolness that we had a perfect triad of the 3 2x10k combos (when I was only thinking of 3 10k categories, of course) at the time, I made the list for the hell of it.

So I don't know if I ever really intended it should honour those who took a long time to get their stats, since after all the three categories back in the day took varying amounts of time and effort to get... exp the least effort but (potentially) the most time, posts only as much time as a user allowed, and b/p kinda in between them.... but I did include everyone who was 1x10k at the time (myself included), and later expanded the list + separated b from p... and in the process of it going from 3x10k to 5x10k in its columns, the list certainly did become a celebration of the long, hard toil that is getting onto it... especially once I trimmed it from a 1x10k minimum to a 2x10k minimum. THAT right there may have been the change that truly made the list into something approaching what you're talking about. But I didn't do it FOR that, I did it so I'd have less work making the updates. #;-}>

Or we discard the medal POINTS and count MEDALS instead. 10k MEDALS should be really hard to get, no matter how many games with medals there are.
