Can it be our own style of art? Or do we have to make it like Stampers lol?

300 dots (or pixels) per inch. It's a way of measuring resolution. When you start your artwork, change the resolution to 300dpi.

well i only draw on flash, because i know my way around on tools, is it possible to hange the DPI in flash?

If not, what program do you recommend?

You can specify a month preference, I suppose. Newground 'holidays' and events (Pico day/April, Clock Day/Aug., etc.) will take precedence over religious, cultural or seasonal happenings (as it should be :P). Not everyone celebrates Christmas, and winter in one hemisphere is summer in the other. So... the more newgroundified your piece is, the more likely it will get chosen.

Yup, if you are using Photoshop or similar (raster) app, it needs to be 300dpi (see below). If you're doing it in something like Flash or Illustrator (vector), then you don't need to worry about it.

ANY style is acceptable! Be creative! :D

oh, sorry... that pic was for photoshop.. As I mentioned above, if you're using Flash, you don't need to worry about the dpi/resolution stuff, just the size.

Because flash is a vector based program, resolution doesn't apply to it. No matter what size you stretch a vector image, it retains its resolution. You could draw your picture whatever size you wish, though I suggest larger so that you can get more detail in to it.

Just open up a new document and start drawing! I suggest using 2880x2143 as your size, it has the same ratio as the one suggested in the guidelines, but is smaller.

Have fun!

Your Flash doc should be 3225 px by 2400 px ...or go to the document properties, set the ruler units to inches, and type in 10.75 w x 8 h (see pic below).

FLASH:

FLASH:

Not sure about later versions of Flash, but in mine, (Flash Pro 8) the largest number of pixels you can have as a dimension is 2880. Therefore the largest size with your ratio is 2880x2143.

Still, I'm sure we could import the image into Illustrator or something to make it larger if need be, after it is completed.

Huh! weird! I did the inches thing... then went back and switched it to pixels again, and it set it to 774 x 576. But if I change it back to inches, it keeps the 10.75 x 8. Crazy! lol (I have 8 too)

Listen to MiddleFingerRing! lol! :D As long as it scales up proportionally, we should be ok. Just remember that once it's full size, all the little globs and boo-boo's are gonna be more noticeable! So make it purdy!!

Comments? Suggestions?

It's a sketchy design. Do we have to do flash? Are they allowed? It's for Jan.

Just a reminder that you don't have to call a month, we'll be choosing what art goes where, so don't get your heart set on a specific month.

You can use flash, or any other program... as long as the final image meets the requirements!

Response to [talk] Ng Print Calendar '09 2008-09-30 23:09:14

hey, ReNaeNae, i get why MiddleFingerRings said 2880 x 2134,
flash only lets me put 2880px MAX.
but 2880 x 2134 is but it preserves the aspect ratio.

can i do it like that?

Here's a WIP. BURNT GAY FACE MAN

I have an issue with the body. So far I've just quickly drawn in where the pectorial muscles and abdominals will be, but there's something wrong. I can't put my finger on it, but it just looks wrong. The arm also looks a bit weird.

Any advice would be appreciated, from those with anatomy skills.

The body I think looks wrong because you can't see the left arm. The right arm just seems to start too far down the shoulder.

Do we need to ask permission before we use anyone's character or we can use any character from NG?

Nice triple posting....

Just use any character, but I suggest using a fairly popular one, as it'll be more likely to be chosen.

(In other words, no, no need to get permission.)

I'm going to assume you can have more than one character as long as they are part of the same cartoon.

E.G. I'm using Burnt Face Man with Bastard Man in the background.
