Is that because it's a sparta reference or because it's sampled from a movie?
In other words, can we take samples from movies? I remember a huge discussion about this a while back, but I can't remember what the final verdict was.

So, is it supposed to be something that you could use or be related in/to the Madness series, or... just plain madness?

Still a little confused on the genre... Anything that sound Epic or something?

Madness day coming up + Madness being a huge part of newgrounds = MAC related to the Madness series.

Was Rule 5 about not posting irrelevant stuff in the submissions thread, and keeping chatter in this thread? I hope so, because I'll be one step ahead of a few other people.

I dunno if I'd be able to even think of anything other than drum 'n bass, so I think I'll probably sit out yet another MAC unless some amazing idea comes to me in my last week of summer holidays.

Well...I guess it's time to take advantage of my cousin's Les Paul and plug in that lovely mic I use for Counterstrike.

Just thinking about the quality of that thing makes me sad.

By the way, I just watched a couple of episodes and noticed there's no metal soundtracks on any of them, just D&B and Ambient. Does metal actually stand a chance in this competition?

Oh, and making something "bassy/static-filled" doesn't make it a piece of shit. There are a lot of people here who can pull off that style well.

I think there'll be a lot of people thinking they've got the DnB Madness sound done pretty well but will sound rubbish, there'll be a few songs that actually do the Madness heavy bass track well, and there'll be the rare few submissions that will defy the stereotypes and create something totally unexpected, but still fitting the theme pretty well.

This MAC is going to kick some serious ass. I mean, everybody's probably still a bit jumpy due to last months mushy-song making, I bet they're aching to pump out some violence.

I'm definitely in this one, I've got a good idea for it already.

There's only one thing that itches me a bit about this MAC, that being the decision to only allow new submissions to enter the contest. I'm personally not effected by this, since I don't have any submissions that would fit the theme, but I believe that will leave out some submissions that could otherwise get a high ranking.

I understand that the previous discussion about MAC8 lead to this, due to the fact that a monthly contest should only include songs made within that month (and because the only logical premise for a song to compete would usually be that it was made FOR this MAC), however there are a few situations that make this a bit complicated. For example, just a few weeks before the last MAC began, I wrote a song for a user that ordered it to accompany his flash movie which centered on a very tragic, depressive event. To me, it was probably the best song (I could make) to depict that theme. Soon, the MAC came along- and hey! That submission fitted the idea perfectly (in my eyes, anyway).

My point is: someone could have made the PERFECT song to this theme already, but not be allowed to enter the contest with it, simply because it was submitted before (and YES, I know there was talk about a pre-MAC period in which the songs should fit if they wanted to be excepted anyways).

If it's like past MACs, I'd say yes, you just need to keep Maestro informed, and just let Tom know how you split the prize if you win.

i thin there should be a 'Nostalgia MAC', where as you have to build on previous audio submissions to MACs, whether your own or somebody else's.
