Yeah, especially the Honda Civic's. Civic got it's name for being a civilized car.

Hye guys. I have a question.

So, my mom turned on the heat in her car today, (it WAS SNOWING) and she couldn't answer the question:

Does the heat coming through the vents come from outside?

And are there some kind of filters under the hood that cause the air to get warmer?

It doesn't necessarily come from outside. That part depends on if the vents are set on fresh air or recycle. But as to how the air gets warm, it is like a filter. The heater core act's the same way as the cars radiator. It uses the already heated engine coolant to heat up fins which the air passes through and gets heated. Quite simple really, but a terrible pain in the ass to replace.

Yep, usually anyway. usually warm air coming through the vents is air from outside warmed by residual heat from the engine .The internal combustion process creates a lot of heat, most of this heat is dumped outsire via the radiator, but some of it can be diverted to the passanger heating system.

Basically the cold air comes in through the vents (usually just under the windscreen) and passes through a heat exchange system and then through into the cabin.

though as somone said, the fans can also take air from inside the cabin and push THAT through the heat excange system. end result is the same, except that you're not getting any fresh air.

Not really, emotional attachments to inanimate objects don't usually end well.

I HATE manual! Although I've never tried it IRL, I've practiced it, and it seems hard to take your hands off the steering wheel every few seconds to just change gears.

it was just hard to upgrade to a "family" vehicle,

Well, we have a minivan which is a family vehicle. BUT WE SHOULD HAVE A FUCKING SEDAN AS I;M AN ONLY CHILD!!!!

but husband has promised when his car dies, we can get somethign manual and fun!

So.. zomgkerrie is old enough for marriage eh? Cool.

Actually I've found that the opposite is true. I remember at least half of the cars (if not more) had autotomatic gearboxes. Though the people who really liked cars had manual (Americans call them stick-shifts) gearboxes.

And because you don't have to pay for insurance you could afford to run a decent car without being too old to enjoy it. Or run a junker for next to nothing :)

Anyhoo, I'm off out either this year or next year, I can't wait to be back.

Looks like that car was from the game called GRID, which is for the Xbox 360. Man, that's one of the best racing games I have ever played in my lifetime. :D

That...was disturbing to say the very very least. What I want to know is how exactly? Obvious thing that comes to mind is the exhaust pipe, but I can't imagine that'd work too well. Also, this is mm favourite part of the article: He added: "There are moments way out in the middle of nowhere when I see a little car parked and I swear it needs loving. Gold lol.

I guess if you live in Washington (which is where I believe the article said he was from), and come back to find your exhaust pipe leaking some unknown fluids, you probably have reason to be concerned.

My favourite part(s) of the article are where he profusely states that he ISN'T mentally ill. Because, y'know, having sex with cars is perfectly normal behaviour.

Aw shit. Ya know, I keep forgetting to take a good pic of my dad's shiny new truck!

He recently bought a new truck [Dodge Dakota(with two rows of seats AND Sat. Radio)]
Once the snow clears out, I'll get a good one! Don't you worry.

It's 2008 truck, a little taller than that, engine looks different, and it's red. That's about all I can think of. I don't really pay attention to the wheels, unless they help me recognize a friend's car, a friend's mom's car, an aunt's car.. etc etc
