I actually got around to watching Batman under the Redhood, and bought Deus Ex Human Revolution.

Now in relation to art, I started sketching some new dynamic poses of women with the aide of references, other than that it was a slow day.

For the cinema-going audience, what's the ratio between
- Families with young kids, and
- Computer game geeks and their mates
for this movie?

I consider myself somewhat of a movie buff (though it has yo be said I find that there has been no brilliant films for at least five years) and I've never heard of this. So googled it, it was at that point I realised my mate had told me about this thing a while back. I think it could be good, although being in the UK it'll take ages for it to get other here.

Well, I went with my girlfriend last night, saw the show around 10:30.
She isn't a gamer, but she knows enough of the major cameos (I explained all the others).
As for the rest of the audience, it wasn't packed due to time, but there were a fair number of people, and most did not seem the gamer geeks.
I think if you go earlier in the day, you'll find the families with young children. That's what I experienced when I saw Kung Fu Panda 2, but I went to something like a 5:00 or 6:00 show time.

Wreck-It-Ralph seems like its aimed at an older audience, any children watching the movie probably wont get a lot of the cameos and retro aesthetic thrown in the mix. The movie does a good job of bringing two dimensional styles to a 3D format, building structures, sound design, and even character movement.

I appreciate that even though Disney is for the most part selling this to families for the purpose of a child's entertainment, the film can be even more so appreciated by an older audience. It's packed with a ton of great references too.

then you'll hate yourself for loving it.

I saw it Saturday with a couple buddies. It was really good. It looks like Disney won't have to depend on the Pixar department for quality 3D as much as it used to.
I'd advise it to anyone who fancies themselves a gamer or a nerd.

I know this subject usually starts a shit storm, but i'm writing an editorial for my college paper about video games being accepted as a legitimate form of art. I'd like to cover a broad spectrum of what people expect when presented with art.

So i'd like to ask, what are all of your individual opinions of what the meaning and definition of art is.

Whether or not something falls under the myriad of definitions of the word 'art' has nothing to do with its individual quality. Anyone who would create an evaluative category that specifically denies the quality and value of a vast medium of human creative output is an elitist cunt.

I watched it with my band, it was alright, probably lower on my scale of animated movies of the year

But then again I am very picky and stuff

So.... anyone have any good color schemes that go along with wood textures and wood colors?

Splyth suggested a dark green. Kind of like forest green. I think it might work, but I wanna have a couple ideas in my arsenal for tomorrow.

See I'm working on an ad, and the background is being changed to a wood texture. And none of the previous colors work with it, so tomorrow at work I get to try and recolor the ad.

Most of the wood colors are close to a gold/yellow/orange but if Mr. Mort wants them to be darker, then as Cthulhu as my witness I'll figure out how to make them darker in Corel.

So as I said, anyone got any suggestions?

Human brains love to see earth tones paired with sky tones- so browns with blues.

Totally depends on what the ad is for... a spa? lawn maintenance equipment? Flooring? Camping? Would need more details to give any kind of sensible answer :P

The flyer already has some light blues on it, and they kind of clash so far, Perhaps if I push the blue up or down the a little more.

The ad is for the screen printing shop its self. Mailers that we send out to advertise.

my 88 year old boss...
trust me, I wish I could use Illustrator or something... but gotta use what they provide
it also doesn't help that I'm using Coreldraw x4

I'm not great with color, never real have been, so this is my chance to practice and get some feed back. Thanks for the help so far.
