The first time i've been through your thread but but each page had great quality art.
I can draw and shade but i suck with paint - maybe i will have to invest in a tablet and something better than Photoshop LE 5.0! My favourite has to be the book cover though - better than most ones i see in the shops 'cos for once, it would actually make me want to buy it!

a tablet does help a LOT and i normally use photoshop. and THANKS guys for the comments.

Heh.. Funny :) that is some really raw meat.. I guess it's because of the low resolution but it's a little hard the make out what the sushi peices is supposed to look like..

quick question, when you paint do you use more than one layer for it? i know backgrounds are seperate normally but for the characters...

normally every new part i put on a new layer like the linework then the colors under that.. then colors a bove thelinework then refining work cause i test out a lot of colors and brushes....then after its ok and i like what i see i then merge them all together then keep going adding new layers for different things then merging.
@Lyndsfyrd - yea the quality sucked when i posted it in here and i forgot to put the higher resolution...but was just a quick sketch so i got lazy .. sorry :S

Yea i messed up the values so when i painted the hair on the back i lost the overall shape so i just removed it hehe sorry.

The sharp angles in the blade of the scythe really bothers me, i'm sure it was artistic choice but it makes it look really odd compared to the smooth curves of the woman. Not good odd, like you got lazy :P
but i don't know what this is fanart for so maybe that's how her scythe does look, the picture is top-notch though as always so good stuff.
I wouldn't say the scythe is bad, I'd say it's placed badly. It for some reason doesn't fit well where it is. Otherwise I looovve it, I'm going to steal your patience
ooo it might be because people don't hold scythes like that, because the blade is heavy. It's usually held firmly with both hands, or propped against the ground to compensate.
