My teacher has never seen Doom. 2007-05-24 21:23:34

I'm assuming most of you have seen the movie, "Doom". Based off my favorite video game, I personally think it wasn't all that great.

But, it was okay. If you had seen it, you would know that an alien race had been wiped out on Mars. The aliens had 24 pairs of chromosomes. Humans only have 23.

So, today, I asked my science teacher what would happen if a human was born with 24 chromosomes. Expecting an answer, she didn't provide. "That's impossible, but it's one kind of thing we'll be learning about in this chapter.."

Why couldn't she answer the goddamn question?

Because that's impossible. But you'll eventually learn about it.

you mean 24 pairs of chromosomes.

And, if you are born with one extra chromosome, you have Down Syndrome.
Not sure about another pair.

One extra chromosome gives you down syndrome, so I guess two extra would take the characteristics of down syndrome and double them.

I saw DOOM in theaters, and it was fucking lame. Especially the bit where the antagonist gets super-powers and the movie goes into "first person mode" for a while..

Silly fool, teachers don't watch movies: They spend all their free time drinking the blood of students who have detention or summer school, they also sleeping in coffins. . .you know, normal teacher things.

And you can only kill them by stabbing them in the heart with a textbook. Preferably math.

agreed. How can you be born with 2 extra chromozones. Im sure it would just be death before birth.

ok one extra cro gives you Down syndrome but that is because the Chromosome is not matched with anything. I guess it could give you to be a geunis if you had 2 extra.

Why couldn't she answer the goddamn question?

My science teacher said ,and i qote''For a person to be considered normal,You have to have 48,or in your case as your teacher said 23,If you have 1 less or 1 more than 48,or 23(I kinda forgot but i think it was 48)Any way if you have 1 less or 1 greater ,you can be born retarded,or mutated. So it might be possible,In fact it is possible,If you are born with one less or one greater you could also be born dead.So yes it is possible.Personaly i don't know why she coulden't awnser,Her response should have been,''If you have 1 less or one greater You arn't considered normal, either your, born retarded, dead,or mutated. So there you have it.

I could give a better awnser if I knew what grade you are in,But I havent the time to tell you.so,Thank You for your question, and a Your welcome.Have a nice day.
