hooray lens effect>glow!!

or video post, i dont judge.

i don't have access to anything 3d now, but i will by the end of the day. maybe i'll have some sorta Zbrush model thats NOT the default face with a bunch of horns/tracks/stiches popping out of his head.

i've been reading Zsphere tutorials. :P

can anyone help me understand materials+textures in Zbrush?
i mean... you can paint directly on the model, right? can you export a low poly model+ maps for MAX somehow?

thats what i get for watching tutorials without the program in front of me.

Ya, in the textures tab you have to hit
colour > texture (or something like that) then it will apply the polypainting to the model. Then when you say export (not save) it will save the current subdiv level as an obj along with the texture. If you want the material as part of the texture I think you can bake it but I haven't tried.

There's so many things that need to be fixed on this so badly, but I figured I'd post an update on it anyway. I need sleep before I can tackle all the problems :(

Remember my old chick? I completely scrapped it and re-did it. Ignore the breasts as they are all puffy for rigging. Also see my "rate my butt" thread which has some of the work i've done on it.

Did a bit of a 3D ~ photo merge to see how I'm going with proportions etc. Still got a few things that need to be fixed proportionally before I'll tackle other areas such as lighting and rendering - and hair and clothing.

yeah he was inspired by him.
when I redesigned P-bot I kept the elements of Toms orginal Pbot drawing . Its obvious that Tom loved Vincent. So do I, so I kept those characteristics in there.

That's made my day.
And that's one beauty of a P-Bot.

you've ever heard of the creaturesInMyHead site? he does one of these things practically everyday.

i thought i'd try to make one in 3d.
its still a work in progress.
this is one of the first models i've done in Zbrush, so dont expect perfection.
any tips or comments?

i think he looks chunkier than the drawing.

Just make sure to lower the model's resolution down a bit at first so it's easier to mold it into it's basic shape, then gradually increase the resolution each time adding more detail. Eventually by the time you get to a high res version of it, you should only be having to tweek it and add subtle textures and so forth and not be having to do any major stuff like re-posing. (and if you do, lower the resolution back again before doing anything - it makes the process alot more easier and efficiant)

this took about 2 hours from a sphere, and was all out of my head with no reference. I'm pretty sure the anatomy is way off tho. I might try buying an account at 3d.sk so I can use their figure stock images.

Well, I'd say the anatomy is close enough to do the job, congrats man!

Wow mindChamber! That's pretty slick, and you said you were no good...

And to the guy who commented on blender yes it is very confusing but can i reccomend this it'll take you right into blender: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BSoD/I ntroduction_to_Character_Animation

i used it to make this little guy, he's my first and I intend to improve, I did make a few changes to his fulkly rigged body that aren't in the tutorial such as a movable thumb and three bones in the hand rather than two. But the geometry is a bit stuffed up so i din't bother doing a complete animation with him other than a simple walkcycle and wave + simple facial expresions.

more of the same, this time i used zspheres to make the base instead of just using a sphere - probably saved me an hour of retopolization time.

Are you going to give it any textures to make it more life-like? I have to say I like the overall look of it but am interested to see what more can be done with it...

ya, if I get more time I'll probably add skin textures and paint it, and of course add some eyes. Did this one to test out my new 9X12 intuous 3 that I've been waiting for since christmas

Did this awhile back now. Was planning to make a better version of this, but just haven't made the time to do it (been working on another animated project) - so I decide to show this version now for the time being. Hopefully I'll get around to fixing it up soon.

It's entitled "Breathe"

A few years ago I tried to make something with Blender 3D, but it didn't work out well... Blender is just too damn hard!

very nice... The facial anatomy is slightly misproportioned, but you could probably pass that off as biodiversity variance...
But the anatomy of the chest is pretty skewed. The pectorals are too narrow, and the nipples are far too high and too close together...

But still, for a sphere-deform-head, it's actually very good. It's a hell of a lot better than all the heads I managed to make using that method...

Just imagine I wrote something witty and funny here....
