I have that. It's good if you need any tips or want to do some fancy tricks. So I'd recommend you read it. But if you're shooting for pro (and I mean pro), then go for the CS2 Bible.

You know you dont have to buy all these photoshop books to become good at photoshop....I got where i am by experimenting....and I was better than all my college tutors who bought the books and studied them and went on the expensive photoshop courses, and even then i was showing them how to do stuff, and sometimes showing them better ways than what they've been taught.

It looks like it was made by hand. Or he could have used the clone stamp.

I made good use of the clone stamp over a period of a few hours. Then after the man was removed, I placed the glass ball on a layer above it. Finally, I did a Distort-->Spherize on the area behind the ball on the picture on the lower layer, and added a low-opacity shadow beneath it

Wow, nice, and nice cutout though, it's perfect, I spent quite a bit of time to find some repeats in the photo to find from where you used the clone stamp, I love the final picture, but I think the shadow could be smoother...

The tut is kinda bad, I would much rather see, a tutorial on how to make it in only PS, then it tha's not possible, I might think of another render...
