linework in flash is sooooo long to make x_x I'm beggining to think it was a waste of time. And Flash sucks ass at making pronunced curves. I probably don't know what I'm doing :p
It takes a lot of curving of line segments, and you still end up with something you may not be happy with. I usually use the brush, because going back over it with the lines, though it can look good (like Stamper's pictures), takes way too long for me to care.
I only did that in this case because brushing it wasn't giving me the style I wanted. The panels and the hard edges were starting to give off this organic feel that looked pretty cheap. I swapped over to lines to make the physical elements more solid and logical, more like actual bolted strips of metal and armor panels. When I draw, say, a unicorn, the brush tool makes sense because everything is a series of short organic lumps and curves.
In terms of the time it takes, I normally don't care. If it takes days, weeks, a month...so be it. As long as I'm happy with the end product, the time doesn't matter.
I was actually gonna suggest the line thing to Pox...like, he could hand draw the chick, then use lines to assist his armor and weapons...but I'm not the sort of person to be handing out advice. I figure whatever he does will be pretty much the bomb.
