It takes a lot of curving of line segments, and you still end up with something you may not be happy with. I usually use the brush, because going back over it with the lines, though it can look good (like Stamper's pictures), takes way too long for me to care.

sorry for the double post...but what is the maximum file size (demention wise)?

there's a pop-up on the posting page that says 500x400 (which is the size that mine is), but now seeing it in the thread i can see that it's not very big by comparison. does anyone know the exact maximum?

Well I posted my shit.

Hey Mindchamber/Stamper, if I decide to change something in it later, could you guys delete the old one? I probably wont as I am quite satisfied with it, but I dont know if double-posts are allowed in that thing or what.

Okay, well I think I'll have a go at it and only submit it if I'm completely happy with the way it turns out, obviously if you think it shouldn't be included then feel free to delete the post, as it might start a trend of other people doing the same.

I'm thinking about buying a toy doll and using that as the girl, could end up looking kinda grotesque.

It takes a lot of curving of line segments, and you still end up with something you may not be happy with. I usually use the brush, because going back over it with the lines, though it can look good (like Stamper's pictures), takes way too long for me to care.

I only did that in this case because brushing it wasn't giving me the style I wanted. The panels and the hard edges were starting to give off this organic feel that looked pretty cheap. I swapped over to lines to make the physical elements more solid and logical, more like actual bolted strips of metal and armor panels. When I draw, say, a unicorn, the brush tool makes sense because everything is a series of short organic lumps and curves.

In terms of the time it takes, I normally don't care. If it takes days, weeks, a month...so be it. As long as I'm happy with the end product, the time doesn't matter.

I was actually gonna suggest the line thing to Pox...like, he could hand draw the chick, then use lines to assist his armor and weapons...but I'm not the sort of person to be handing out advice. I figure whatever he does will be pretty much the bomb.

Same here, most people don't understand how I can make a picture that has pretty much no white space(on paper) without losing my patience. To me colouring in a backround is a pretty good time waster when I need it so I usually draw a picture before a long drive and add colour to it when I get bored. Usually takes me an hour or more to accomplish this because I crosshatch it or whatever you wanna call it at least with three layers of colour.

Wassup, amigos! I just submitted a little girl holding a jumbo-sized gun on page 3 of the art contest forum. It's really awesome! Old-skool hand drawn & everything!!! It took forever just to upload it, so please be kind when you're giving me comments. Also, if you do have criticism, please keep it more constructive and less insulting. Just because I didn't use computer to draw it, doesn't mean it sux! Thank you kindly.

;)

I laugh at your sigs!

I have a really crappy attention span, so all the pictures I have posted (except the self portrait with a twist which was an art assignment) I have done in one sitting. I can't really pull myself back to working on something if I close the window or anything. That's why my flash cartoons are either 24-hour flash or take like 3 months to do. It's not that the 3 months are hard work, it's just getting myself to do something, and then doing like 80% of it in a weekend, and then coming back a month later and finishing the other 20%.
