He started "The Hobbit" as a way to teach history in a new, Exciting way. That just eventually became a new obsession of his. Sure the stories are great. Maybe in the end of his career he actually became an author, but I still just see him as a History Teacher.

At this moment I'm a Tae Kwon Do Teacher... and I like to write too... Maybe cuz I have read a lot of books.. maybe soon I'll write a good book, one of my favorites authors is Tolstoy! And none has talk about him.. maybe cuz we are forgetting the big ones, like Shakespare, Cervantes and Verne...

Out of those 3, #1 is Animal Farm, after reading that book I finally undestanded the Russian Revolution and its principles.

Now there's a man with some taste! Ever read: "Ciudad Por Los Muertos De La Luz"?
I read often, but picking a favorite would be very difficult for me. I've enjoyed the "Necroscope" series of books by Brian Lumley. Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" books have been a constant source of entertainment and hilarity.
Some classics are very appealing as well, such as "The Scarlet Letter" or any of Poe's works.
Some edgy/political readings have been good for an understaning and rounded outlook on people. I suggest "Mein Kampf" to anyone who can find it, it's not that easy. The "Diaries Of Alistair Crowley" make for an interesting read.
For Sci-Fi/fiction, I've always enjoyed Larry Niven, or S.M. Sterling. Both the "Man/KZin Wars" series, and the "Drakka" series are great fiction.
But for now, I'm gonna go curl up under the blankets with a copy of Vol.13 of "Sorcerer Hunters". I still get all warm inside when Carrot finally confesses his hearts' true feelings and there's an end to the romantic tension.

I guess I still am a sucker for the romance after all...

Good night to you all.

I like the gunslinger series by steven king....

My most enjoyed book was Dragon Charm by Graham Edwards....It was a big book....and I got so in to reading it that i was physically upset when i finished....i believe my words were..."shit...now what do i do? I want more damnit!"

I also enjoyed the first two books in the novelization of Doom......I read those both over the course of two days with little breaks. They were nice....however....the third and fourth books were terrible and dissapointing

Hmm....I've played the game briefly but I've never read the book. My dad has though and he says they're awesome.

Yeah the Silmarillion is awesome if you've read LOTR, but some people don't like it because it is a narrative, not much (if any) dialog.

Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkein
Without Remorse by Tom Clancy
Jurassic Park by Micheal Crichton
Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind
Rama II by Arthur C. Clarke
The War of The Worlds by H.G. Wells

Oh, I forgot'Trainspotting', yes, the film's good, excellent to watch when it's one of those weekend nights and you can't sleep, it's about 3am, watching trainspotting at that time is excellent, when it finishes and it's the right time of the year you can see the sun begin to rise, that end song is excellent for that, so chilled out at the start(plus Ewan McGreggor=very yummy)...ahem, but I'm meant to talk about the book.
'Trainspotting' is an excellent book, not avery good read for people who live outside of Scotland because there's alot of 'Scot's speech' in it and I think they'll find it more difficult to understand than shakespeare's peices of writing. Unfortunately, I lost my copy of trainspotting before I'd even got half way through it...man I need to find it. There's also the sequal'Porno' but I haven't read it, I think Schteevan(Ginga_ninja) has read a little of it though.

I've read all of Porno and its a pretty good book. Trainspotting as good as well but probably my favourite Irvine Welsh book is Glue, which is set before Porno and has charaacters in it that know the characters from Trainspotting. In Porno the characters from the 2 books combine to make a porno movie. Its pretty cool.
My favourite book is probably LOTR. The book I'm reading right now is the Simirillion, which is also by JRR Tolkien and is all about the Gods of Middle earth, what it was like at the beggining of time and so on and so forth. It has the creation of the elves and the men and all the other creatures of Middle earth in it. It is also all about the first truly evil creature in Middle Earth, Morgoth and his followers, who included Sauron. It was pretty tedious at first but I'm starting to get into a bit more now.
Anyway, I've rambled on enough for now.
