Oh man, I was fucking sick of Flash games about evil computers! Seriously.

After beating single player I rank the game among my top 3 of all time next to ocarina of time and metroid prime. It's that good, I might write up my full opinions of it sometime after I get a chance to play co-op.
I'm restraining my self. Stephen Merchant is awesome. That is all. :p
(Also, sorry to hear about your cat. That profile picture still sticks out in my memory :) )
Noticed something odd when testing my game--Using mrdoob's Stats class I noticed that Flash's memory usage slowly increases as time goes on, even in an empty file.
Problem with Flash or problem with the Stats class?

I guess PlayStation Network's bin down all week. Sucks fr that guy! :(
So I was thinking about how awesome AS:Main was when I was learning to code. It was really good to have tutorials written by people in the same boat as you with learning to code and all, and have them discussed by the community. Maybe it's an outdated idea, but I think it'd be cool to try again with AS3:Main, or at least to arrange all of the existing tutorials into one nice clean page.
Discuss.

I think it's probably one of the better resources for AS2, definitely helped me (and look where I am now...). AS3:Main just flopped when it could have been as big as AS:Main. It's a shame really. I can't program very well with AS3, but I could help a little bit with some really basic tutorials.
I'll leave the hard stuff to the big boys.

Amazing game
Also, anyone remember me? out of interest.

I do. Don't you do graphical design now?

I still do flash mostly, just been a hectic year or so.
How is everyone? I've been lurking a bit but i'm behind. Also nice to see the newgrounds forums are still decades behind every other forum on the net haha
Birth page/year thing whatever.
Shit, spring break is over.
Oh yeah, Flash or whatever.
Bye.
This forum is sooo slow nowadays, would be interesting to see some Newgrounds traffic stats, I hope the site is doing okay.
In other news, I got myself an iPad, it's quite magical :)

My current game will be done in the next month or two. My sound person is working at RIM at the moment and suggested that we port it all over to the playbook. Whether the playbook is going to die soon or not is not my concern, but it runs flash and I would love to have a tablet game on my resume. : )
No reason not to do it. Simple as that.
Obligator birth-year post.
Also, I've been playing a lot of Assassins Creed II recently, I think it is damn good honestly.
I've kinda stopped working in flash and have moved mainly to C++ and OpenGL. I definitely find it way more difficult.
If you have an iPhone go here:
Download the app and play. It's fucking amazing.

AFAIK the android packager for Flash only works with AS3 so they would have had to do some serious work to decompile AH and convert it to as3. If they went through all that, then they probably optimized some stuff too...what were the controls?
My experience with Android porting is that the as3 exporter is pretty crappy and you have to optimize your stuff a ton to get it to perform at all respectably on Android.

I expect to be doing a great deal of optimizing to get anything working on the android. But, that just comes with the work. Even AAA titles being developed on a PS3 still needs a ton of optimizing. Having to downgrade a few graphics and challenge yourself to make more efficient code is fun and worth the effort of getting something onto a new, albeit less powerful platform.
Somebody mentioned on this page or the one before about how slow this board is nowadays. I have noticed this over the past year or two as well. To people who have actually stayed active over the years, what the hell happened? 4 years ago when I was a great deal more active, things moved a great deal faster from what I remember. Or am I remembering wrong???

we got jobs

When I first left it was due to me simply becoming more productive. Instead of spending a few hours a day posting, I would spend those hours working. Work and school is more of a factor now.
On that note, I will be working as a software developer for a company in Vancouver called Recon Instruments. They make these crazy GPS enabled Ski Goggles. Looking forward to it.
I think as a new user, the forum and especially this thread is a little intimidating to just jump in and become real active on.
For sure. I thought maybe the slow nature of the board was due to crackdown on spam like projects and collaborations. It almost worked too well maybe, taking away some of the activity on this board by moving it elsewhere.
you were old then and you are old now.
.you just got more lazy and lost your pation :]
some things will never change like i wanted to write don't kidd yourselves but i think i misspelled it like always so i didn't (absurd)
Is it weird I never used switch/case statements? I knew about them, but never saw a real use for them. I've reduced the size of my code by shit tons after proof reading and including them where I could.

I just looked up switch/case statements.
I now wish I knew about this earlier.

I only discovered them once I was learning C# and was like "man, I wish this was in AS3" and some dude was like "dude, they're right there".
