No, everything wouldn't be cool.

You can't have dashes at the beginning and end of your name like that...

It's for the subdomain-like addresses that will be used for the new NG profiles.

it's basically people asking why, and then people asking to change their name from -Bob- to Bob because some inactive alt is hoggin it...

then tom takes the alt, see's if it's active, and if it's not, he deletes it, or adds numbers after it...

Well, since hyphens between individual letters are still kosher I might as well overload myself on them.

Because you can volunteer to change your name.

Otherwise they will be running a script that will change your name for you eventually.

Blast it, I tried to change to -Tangent- a little while ago, before this thread was even up, I think. Oh well, at least I'm not confused anymore...

Okay, I have barely been around much lately, but I don't understand why this is necessary. The changing of inactive users and that are great ideas, but i don't see the problem with hyphens and underscores.

And yeah, I don't feel like reading through 23 pages, hence why I ask despite it probably being asked and answered already. Sorry.

It's because the new profiles are said to going to use a subdomain-like address like: pure_lionheart.newgrounds.com

That would function correctly because underscores are not valid for domain names, and browser compatibility would be off and I'm not sure about mod_rewrite compatibility but I don't think it would work either.
