Its only a gimmick. And thats his head, not his fingers. Thats where the talent is.

And its fucking amazing. Most of you say Scenes from a Memory is the best works. But I can it hard to see how anything can top Awake. Its like an extended A Change of Seasons - that lasts a full album.

Its catchy and poppy like Images and Words.
Yet, its also as heavy as my (really heavy) testicles.
Plus its just a great show of the the usual Dream Theater virtuosity.

Nev is in love. I've gotta listen to it more later.

I fucking told you guys and you wouldn't listen. Awake is fantastic from start to finish.

Oh yeah, I was banned. I'm a naughty boy.....

I heard somewhere that "A Mind Beside Itself" ("Erotomania", "Voices" and "The Silent Man") is supposed to be an introduction to "A Chnage of Seasons".

I've got nothing to back it up though.

All of the outros are intros to the next album. Its called a meta album. Dream Theater is possibly the first group to create a meta album. The sound of phonograph static at the end of "Finally Free" on Scenes from a Memory is the same sound at the beginning of "The Glass Prison" on their next album, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. And the last chord that fades out at the end of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is the same chord that fades in to "As I Am" on the next album, Train of Thought. And the piano note played at the end of "In the Name of God" on Train of Thought is the same piano note that opens "The Root of All Evil" on their next album, Octavarium. I don't know if they did anymore, but yeah, thats about all I know of them doing.

I pretty sure I would of listened. Afterall I love Kevin Moore. So I wouldn't dismiss an album with the Moorester on.

Wow, I can't believe I haven't joined this club already. Petrucci is a god, and I absolutely love Dream Theater. Honestly, if I had to name my favourite band right now it would be them. LTE rocks as well, but I guess that isn't the point of discussion here. I've been listening to Octavarium a lot recently. Actually I have been playing Space Dye Vest over and over as well, even though it depresses the hell out of me. Anyway, I'd be glad to join. I'll see what I can do about posting regularly.

The only flaw is that the 24 minutes doesn't last long enough :(.

I actually think the song is the perfect length :p Caught in a Web is immense. I'm listening through Awake for the second time now. The Big Medley made me smile when Bohemian Rhapsody came on :)

I just prefer songs that are catchy and awesome. No matter the length. Some of the catchiest songs I've heard are long:
And Then There Was Silence - Blind Guardian
The Seven Angels - Avantasia
Black Rose Immortal - Opeth
Blackwater Park - Opeth
A Change of Seasons - No need to name an artist :P.

Length isn't a factor.. its just the enjoyment. Some long songs are too tedious - but so are some short ones..... Symphony X's 'The Oddessy' is pretty boring. And I've not gotten into 'Six Degree's of Inner Turbulence' much.

If the song is just the same riff over and over again, like your average 2 1/2 minute rock song, then yes. But if a song goes into immense detail and intricacy, like Sex Degrees of Inner Turbulence, then it works.

True. However I think most people would have wanted a 'better' set list. But I ask, what IS better? Everyone has different favourite songs :p I woulda loved to have seen These Walls, Take the Time and Caught in a Web on there at the expense of The Answer Lies Within and I Walk Beside You. However some people aboslutely love those songs.

Moving onto A Change of Seasons... I love the EP, not for the title song, but for the live covers. I find a new degreee of respect for a band when I hear them do classic songs justice. Achilles Last Stand and Perfect Strangers are stuff of legends. They also make Bohemian Rhapsody sound good! I never liked the original :)

Dude, leather pants are awsome.
I admit back in the day Dream Theater did dress kinda gay (just look at the booklet for "Images and Words"), but they've toned down the gayness a lot in the past ten years, and these days just look nothing short of awesome.

Bastards, calling Myung a girl. Fuck them. I liked this comment:
More nuggets of insight from Brett Hinds.
Does he have any other insults in his vocabulary that are unrelated to sexual orientation?
I, as an insult connoseur of sorts, am very underwelmed.
Be a little more original next time, you slack-jawed junkslut!

I was about to try and get into Mastodon, but they say that Dream Theater are gay and call Myung a girl. Well, I won't be trying to get into them now. Fuck them for saying such shit to a great band.
