Wow, no one so far said anything about Netscape, only Firefox, even though they're relatively the same.

Also, I noticed the downtime as well, but it was already late and I had to sleep anyways.

Just because they are the biggest corporation in the world, doesn't mean they can't be beaten.

The update probably hasn't been released yet.

And why are you reading this? You should read posts coming from regulars and anyone you actually care!

Thank you. Opera is much better than FireFox in my opinion. I still mostly use Internet Explorer, but Opera is a nifty second browser. Seriously, though. Thanks for helping to support my opinion.
If you don't believe that Opera is better in at least some ways, compare crap, such as RAM usage, hard drive space, browser speed (how fast new pages open... Opera opens much faster than Internet Explorer, so it seems I have a faster connection; I don't know how it compares with FF, but I heard it is the same).

Anyways, go with your own browser, really, though I still reccomend Opera.

it is a good idea to showcase Firefox. It is SO MUUCH better than IE. They're miles away one from each oher.
I think you should place a link to download Firefox on some NG header. There's also a nice Flash version of it in the www.spreadfirefox.com !

Anyone who has updated Windows recently, or who are set to receive automatic downloads and have them installed are going to be affected by this at some point.

I am just installing the updates. However, I don't need to install them all. Do you think avoiding installation of that thing will solve the problems? Well I don't use IE though, but, though..

Thanks to Shawn for drawing my attention to this.

AFRO-NINJA !!

By the way, I got a call from Tom saying that the site was down this morning. I swear he's bionic. I mean, who gets up to go to an office at gone 4am? Many European users noticed this outage, but it was nothing to do with them being in Europe, just the time that they were up. Service resumed shortly after the call, most likely down to Tim, who would have called the service provider.

If you haven't already read it, read Tom's news about Stagknight!

You guys are sooooo funny! What is 'exactly' bionic? I've tried via eRjecnik but nothing found.
Huh.
I am in Europe but didn't noticed t hat. Do you mean 4am by European time or by USA time?

Haha, I love NG!

For the people out there that don't already know. You can get rid of this "fix". and for gods sake, you don't need to install every update that comes to your computer. Half of them are just stupid..

But still, go to your Add/Remove programs and click "Show Updates"... Find the one's that were installed on the day these "Click to activate active x" or whatever it was. And delete them, I've done this and no problems..

Also, when these updates want to get installed again. Go to custom and see which are doing which, you can install a few of the others without the active thing going on. Sorry if this makes no sence, just wanted to help.

Good for you man! Lol, but yeah...

You don't all need to go to FF (Personally I can't stand it but I know many like it just like fools like there iPods) because you can just un-install the update with the active control on it.

No, they're not the same, but Mozilla did stem from Netscape. From Wikipedia:

"In 1998, Netscape made the decision to make the Netscape browser an open-source project. A basic version of the source code was duly released. An informal group called the Mozilla Organization was formed and largely funded by Netscape (the vast majority of programmers working on the code were paid by Netscape) to co-ordinate the development of Netscape 5 (codenamed "Grommit"), which would be based on the Communicator source code. However, the aging Communicator code proved difficult to work with and the decision was taken to scrap Netscape 5 and re-write the source code. The re-written source code was in the form of the Mozilla web browser, which, with a few additions, Netscape 6 was based on."
