Seriously, this is a dumb question, but it's been eating away at me this whole week.
I feel like I'm the only person that never opens his eyes while underwater.
So, in order to keep this brief and not have it drag on for an unnecessary amount of paragraphs, I'll keep just cut to the chase.
When underwater, do you keep your eyes open or do you preffer to close them?

I've never opened my eyes in the water. There was one time, but I was wearin goggles. I don't even like to put my face in the water.
It depends. If I want to see stuff I'll open them.

I keep my eyes open. I don't know why, but most of my friends are affraid to open their eyes... I have no idea why though...

There is no point in opening your eyes underwater unless you're trying to find a penny at the bottom of a pool. It burns like hell and it really doesn't make it easier to navigate around. You can swim in the direction you desire with your eyes closed. Plus, in the end you always go back up, unless you're tied to a cinder block.
I've been refurbished and reissued, prepackaged and precooked, decontaminated and deloused, but I still smell, sound, look and feel like shit.
I rarely have my eyes open in water without goggles, but even then, I don't keep my eyes open that much.
Oh, and OVlez, I've been wanting to ask you where you got the picture of the revolver with the rose around it in your sig. I've been wanting to find a larger picture of it for body art reasons.

I swim with them either way, but I don't like doing it much in pools because of all the germ killer shit they put in there, it always makes my eyes sting...
Ehh i keep them closed, not really a fan of pools and the like but once in awahile it's cool to take a dip.

i try to see underwater but it feels weird, cant focus properly, its worse when theres chlorine in the water
Open, dude, or you'll hit someone (or the side of the pool).
Usually if there's too much clorine in the water, I just bring along some goggles though.
As long as I'm in a prisitne condition swimming pool, I keep my eyes open, just to see where I'm going. The blurriness of the water doesn't affect my short-sightedness that much.

I thought most people kept em closed, I keep them open cos I swim underwater most of the time when I go swimming and I'm like fish in water so I act like one :p

I dont see (LOL!) why you would close em, they tend to get used to the chlorine after a while...
never heard of chlorine damaging eyes, they put tons of the stuff in uk pools now
cant use goggles as im short sighted and dont want to risk losing contact lenses, so i keep my glasses on, they have never fallen off which surprised me

That depends. I normally don't look under water, but I've been at places there you could see clearly and it wouldn't burn either.
But I prefer to keep my eyes closed.

I dont know wether or not chlorine damages eyes or not, i just know that it burns like hell when i open em in a pool. then you get that cloudy vision forever after you get out. screw that. Theres nothing exciting to see underwater.

Closed... Unless i put my head in a bucket WITH fresh water then i can force them openand keep them open for a bit...

Chlorine? :P I keep my eyes closed underwater mostly. Sometimes I use goggles and that's about the only time I open my eyes.
When I'm swimming in a pool, my eyes stay open, but if I'm in salt water, I keep them closed.

i keep my eyes open but if theres a propa fit women swimig in the same pool as me i wud close them and bump into her :p
Only If i wear goggles are my eyes open, and i rarely wear goggles.
If it's salt water- they're open in a flash.
Chlorinated Water- Hell. No.
