VI-X are probably the best to go with if you are new and the best part is most of them are on steam, psn or really cheap on amazon for original copies.

watched a Japanese playthrough and read the plot I was not overly impressed. alot of deus ex machina.

lol the 13 series is just the best parts of Squaresoft final Fantasy's thne adding subpar characters and plot and slapping the final fantasy name to it.
though its a really stupid move just making the FFX and X-2 for the Playstation only if you released that on Xbox and Steam they would make more money. but you know its Square enix and apparently sound business and fiscal responsibility decisions aren't their strong suit when it comes to games.

I have never beaten Final Fantasy 10, but it seemed ok. But the memory is blurry in my 11 year old mind :P.
I think it was most fun on "Gran Pulse" where you can do sidequests in Final Fantasy 13, and a wide open area with flying monsters and stagger mode, i have not tried the newer sequals to FF13 series after that though.
Final Fantasy has a great history, but has lost its way lately. The series needs to return to better times.
