The solution is simple: Use firefox. Right click on "Sign In" and select "Open in a new tab". Then it's like a popup window, but better!

to be honest, I hate it. I loved how nice and organized the compact pop-up version was. There should be an option to be able to decide between the two, or something like that, it would make it alot more helpful for the people who really liked the old version.

Whoops. Completely wrong way of going about it. What works better is open a new tab first, go to some random part of NG, then click on sign in. I feel stupid...
But there's no reason for you to be rude. Courtesy is always a nice thing to have.

You can just ctrl+click, actually, but the problem is the Sign In button is in flash, so neither method works (not for me anyway... perhaps the new version does if it's working for you).
But I personally like the new one a lot more.
