Database Server Upgrade (update)

Just a quick note. The new database server is in the rack and running. Liljim and I will be working to migrate the cluster to it tomorrow morning as previously planned. We'll keep you updated if anything changes. For now, here are a few responses to comments posted yesterday.

Old Server:
Penguin Computing Relion 240
2 x 2.8ghz Xeon's
6GB PC2100 DDR memory
64mb Raid Adapter
3 x 73gb 15k drives in Raid 5
Standard i386 compiled binaries

New Server:
HP DL385
2 x 2.2ghz dual-core Opteron's (effectively 4 cpu's)
9GB PC3200 DDR Memory
Smart 6402 Raid Controller with 128mb cache
6 x 36gb 15k drives in Raid 10 plus one hot spare
64bit Linux with native amd64 compiled binaries

Back_Door_Baron: New servers always means one of two things-- great post-upgrade performance, or horrible problems.

I'd like to think that our track record has been good as of late.
