hi all. I use Cubase SX 3 and Soundforge for all my audio recording. I have an M-audio 10/10 LT, which can apparently be used with pro tools, but i have no idea where to start with pro tools.

If anyone can point me in the right direction for using this sound card with Pro Tools that would be awesome, my friend has a copy i could use.

Also, if anyone needs any sound effects / foley / voices recorded for their animations, i would love to help out! I'm looking for any work at all, and i have a lot of experience doing sound for film and other medias.

Cheers, Joey

I have a question maybe some of you could help me answer.
So, the usual way I make my songs is like this: I compose the music in Finale 2007, save it as an mp3, then juice it up with some ambience in Adobe Audition.
However, Saving a song from Finale as an mp3 sounds horrible, all the instruments sound very fake and synthed.
So my question is, what progam do you guys use to make the music sound real? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That price is incorrect. It's currently $77.81.

This thread has really helped. I was looking for some easy-to-use, free audio software (yes, I'm a cheapskate) and this thread had just what I needed, thanks Denvish. Plus 100 cool points for you!

BTW, Logic Studio 8 is out at $499 (half the price of Logic 7, and it is better than Logic 7, so your best bet for mac now is probably Logic.

I can't believe apple made Logic 8 so cheap, but its great.

Yo,

I need to find a piece of free software that converts .sib files into .mp3 that works when uploading onto NG.

Any ideas, guys?

Btw, I have audacity, and the LAME converter, but it doesn't seem to work...

.sib is a sibelius file right? if so you'd have to open that project up in sibelius then export it as an mp3 or wav.

Tried that, but it won't play on NG, just gives me 1 second of silence....

Hello!

I need help, should i use Psycle or ScaleTracker? Which of they are best?

Response to Audio Software: Studios & Editors 2008-07-06 08:31:48

This list needs updated.

Garageband comes free with all macs - which means that if you can use garageband, chances are you already have it.

Logic Studio is only £320 or $500, and isn't just Logic Pro any more. (Logic Studio includes Logic Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Quicktime Pro, Mainstage, and various other apps and utilities)

And it misses out Logic Express which is like a cut-down but more affordable version of Logic Pro. Should probably at-least mention it in the Logic Studio/Pro entry

so which is best/easiest to start on for the kind of electronic stuff in the audio portal?

Response to Audio Software: Studios & Editors 2008-07-20 03:22:35

thanks to the beauty of acedemic discounts you can get logic for 150 i believe... all 40+ gigs of it :D
And its totally worth it.... such a great program

And about the axiom25 I have that... but as far as programming goes... i dont remember or i just plain never knew :P Good luck

Mue = music engineering... its not a typo.. it was just a dumb thing to do

I'm looking for a program to create realistic sounding music / instrumental songs. Realistic drums & guitar...everything really. Piano, horns bells etc.

What is the best program on this list for it? I'm guessing the better the program the more money? Or is that not the case in this situation? What is the BEST program for that on this particular list?
