Last week I reflected on our progress with site features and ongoing Flash preservation efforts.
Ruffle had a busy week since that post! Here are more games that are now working:
If you want to test a game that doesn’t currently have Ruffle enabled, add “?emulate=flash” to the end of the URL. If everything appears to be working, link to the game in this thread and I can switch it over to use Ruffle!
Our custom date-range browsing is a fun way to explore older games. For example, here are all of the featured games from the year 2013. Many of these can potentially have Ruffle enabled and a lot could also use modern thumbnails.
If you’d like to help create hi-res thumbnails for classic movies and games, we could use your help in the Thumbnail Crew thread. We have both old content with missing thumbnails, as well as old content with small thumbnails that benefit from hi-res replacements.
It’s interesting to think that some day, the majority of Flash content will be working via emulation and all the thumbnails will be updated. I wonder what sort of massive preservation project will be necessary next?
Unrelated but go watch this:
There’s a lot of great stuff on the front page, don’t miss out.
