I am one of the unfortunates who gets screwed by AOL (It's now knifing my computer), so I had to change my NG account's email over to yahoo. Unless a bunch of AOLers say that they're getting NG emails, I'm not switching back (contest too important!)

My validation email worked back in 02. But, I have 7.0 right now as well as in 2002. Before I reformatted my computer, I had 9.0 and I had a few problems with getting validation emails with other websites, but now it's fine with 7.0. It might just be a coincidence. I don't know.

Then why did you check the box to receive our emails? To stop them just log into your account and edit your personal options and uncheck the box that says you want them.

I got to embarresingly admit I did have AOL.
This is my expeireince of quitting AOL
Marc: Hi I'd like to quit AOL.
AOL: Are you sure, the modem you use may not work. Think of the good offers AOL has like its very easy to use welcome screen?
Marc: I'd like to quit due to the fact I'm getting shit service, slow speeds, I can never speak to someone whos not from AOL india in the tech help, I get AOL browser installed which is slow, crap and is full of adware. And instead of 512 kbps for £27.99 ($52.00) i can get 572 kbps+ for £21.00 ($38.00) and get a non AOL browser and on ADSL Guide they are normally rated 1st in speed reliability. They also have good helpline which I'm not bothered about paying as the AOL is slow as so many customers and quitting and so many are being tricked into it. I also speak to someone who speaks good and clear english.
AOL: Your modem may not work with your new ISP, are you sure.
AOL: Ok it'll take a week to cancel the line
Marc: Ok fuck off then.
2 weeks later
Marc: I cancelled my AOL subscription and got a cancell number and it still isn't quit.
AOL: For some reason we havn't even bothered cancelling it! We will now cancell it but It'll now take a week to cancel plus another 3 weeks
Overall this took about 5 to 6 weeks
Anyone else having any AOL hell?

This is because our mail servers were not set up to the standard that AOL was looking for. Now that we have acquired the skillful services of Tim as our full time sysadmin he has made improvements to our mail system that will hopefully allow our emails to get through to AOL users. However, to confirm this we are asking our AOL users if they have recently been able to get our email? If you have recently signed up for a NG account and got a verification email from us to validate your account please respond to this and let us know! If you are an AOL user and don't have a NG account you can try and sign up for one and let us know how you make out.
i had the problem with aol so i created a new email address that wasnt with aol and didnt have a spam filter. so i got the validation email and here i am.

I just wanted to confirm that, and clarify a bit... I'm pretty certain that the mail filters were set by aol as the default, so when they gave us the option, or when we upgraded it, the mail filter was set with most of us not even realizing it.
So anyway, anyone with the mail filter on can check their spam folder (just under the list of mail in the mailbox), and of course you can go into the spam controls and uncheck the filter. It's a terrible filter anyway. I still got a bunch of spam when it was on (and i didn't realize it was on), and then it sent a bunch of different e-mails i was expecting to the spam folder.
Anyway... i dont know if it's fixed for ng now, or not. If not, maybe you should try talking to someone who works at aol about it. Maybe they can put you on a list of allowed mail or something like that.

I've got a great idea! Why not ditch the rest of the new users with aol ( even though most people online use the crap ass service )?
