Reminds me of the episode of the simpsons where the bum sued the owner of itchy and scratcher for copyrights. in the end they managed to stay in bussiness because they then sued the US goverment for stealing a character for itchy and scratchy . the figure the Us govement stole was a mailman which was origanally a stickfigure and they drew lines around it.

Im sorry, but ima have to go with Nike on winning this one. I just dont see how you could go with such a huge corporation just by using a stickman. Stickmen are probably the most used characters in NG movies. he might as well sue StickDeth.com

Chances are he'll win. It's not the same laws when 1 person uses against a huge ass company. He copyrighted his STYLE not stickmen and nike copied it. They deserve to pay, they get too much love from people anyways. Such a bullshit company too.

two million yuan is equal to around $241,000 US (rounded to the nearest thousand).

Yahoo Finance Currency Converter

I hadn't seen the actual amount posted here, and that site doesn't list the value in United States dollars.

If it turns out that Nike did copy it, I hope the guy wins, but he'll have one HELL of a time proving it either way - a stick figure? Come on.

<sarcasm>He will win hands down. I mean, look at how they copied the black color, and the head and the little stick arms...it looks so similar, Zhu should win all the money!</sarcasm>

In ways I want him to win, just to piss on Nike, but I also think this is really dumb just like all other corporate related occurances.

No offense to anyone in favor of Zhu, but he's no doubt going to lose.
You can't copyright a stick figure. It's something everyone uses. It's just as stupid as someone saying "I'm going to copyright smiley faces". People sue anyone for anything nowadays, when really, they are just looking for a quick buck.
I dunno what Zhu's intentions are for this, whether he really does "own" stickmen, or he's looking for cash.

If you haven't already noticed you'd see you can sue like that. ESRB tried to do it to NG for using their letters in a similar way. Just like Nike is doing to Zhu.

Even with that fact i don't support Zhu because it is so dumb.

i have officially lost faith in Zhu Zhiqiang.

Hell he should be sueing half the people who submit movies to newgrounds... he's probably ended up living in a box some where and needs some kind of easy income.

I VOTE IN FAVOR OF NIKE

This is good proof that people are fucking insane. Why wouldn't he be suing Stickdeath.com, too then? They use stick figures. Or even cavemen for scraoing stick figures into stones thousands of years ago?

Well, from a perspective of being with the law for two years observing cases brought on by blose friends; it is likely that he would not win the case. However, he has my full support and also there could be a very very very slim chance he could win this, but with only so much.

I should sue both Zhu and Nike because I've been drawing my stickman character years before them. My comic has been around since 1992. I actually have a legal copyright on my characters too. Woohoo, a billion dollars for me :^D
