We had some more down time today while some hardware was being worked on. We had a drive in the data base server fail so that had to be taken care of.

Also from the downtime last night to about 1-2PM EST the validation emails were not being sent out. If you are still waiting for a validation email you can request another one be sent to you by logging into your account and clicking the link to resend one.

Also in my last post I talked about the review system. I forgot to remind everyone that if you see a review that breaks our rules, such as spamming links, insulting the author, etc, please click the "abusive" link. If you are logged in while doing this and we agree that the review was a violation of our rules you will be rewarded with positive whistle points which will help out your whistle level. If you click the abusive link and we find the review did not violate our rules you will receive negative whistle points.

Well, since you talked about whistle points again, i'm gonna bring up the visible whistle points idea agian. Because i'm just that annoying.
I remember you saying a couple of times about a month ago that you were discussing whether or not to make them visible, but we've heard nothing since.
I still think that it would encourage more users to whistle more and help keep NewGrounds free of rule-breaking flash and abusive reviews. Though it could be abused, it can already be abused just as much.
Well, i'm done. :)

Hey, maybe you guys should run the site off the server that hosts the error messages :O That'll never go down, btw, what hosts the error pages anyways? And if it crashed....what would happen? :P

Good to see the sites back up.

The error pages are triggered by database failures. The error messages are delivered to your internet browser in the same way in which any Newgrounds page would be - something just failed along the way of you getting your (free) content.

what hosts the error pages anyways?

The same fileserver and webservers as serve the pages up that you DO see.

Its okay, I know how hard it can be to run a website.

Nothing.

Usually if a person posts a long-assed review with say, a walkthrough, or cheats, people mark it as helpful. The higher the helpful rating, the more likely I (and other) users are to read it. It's more for games I think, than movies.
But I could be wrong, it's just my take on it.

So dose this mean when something like "dicky mouse" gets put up and someone says "you suck!!! You $#%^$ing ^$&%^&^!!!! I hate you and all the trash you submit!" They can get flagged???

Eh, it's just a whistle point. Besides, we don't need a bunch of people spamming about abuse just because someone didn't like their crappy flash. :)

It's like BLAM/SAVE points, except it deals with reviews and not voting.

Thanks for telling us about the "Abusive" on spam. I was afraid to do that before since it wasn't technically abusive. Tom said something about the servers being down on the other thread too. Thanks for warning us.

Every annoying link I find in reviews I mark as abusive and I have already noticed that your new system works brilliantly!
Thanks again!

A tip for those of you who want Whistle Points.

Wade with the help of of others has made it so that certain reviews can't be seen by the public. The problem with this is, you may still see the violators review in the games start-up page, but you won't see them in the recent reviews pop-up window (Where you have to click abusive).

However, some people like one account called "Woepa" reviews games and spams the website with spaces in each letter. You can click abusive for that and earn whistle points.

But remember.. The biggest cash in is if you find any submissions to the portal which break the three rules which you may blow the whistle for. (Most likely stolen submissions.)

So keep your eyes open, and good luck!
