I made my first song in 5/4 time signature and something surprising happened in the middle of the song. See if you can spot it 👀

I have created a thingamabob once more after a 2 day hiatus
Holy shit, I skipped alot of days because of civil unrest in my country, I really lost lots of moral. I don't think I can really participate in challenge anynore, although I will try.. maybe..

And with the new year comes one of my favorite annual traditions: JAMUARY!!!!!
What the heck is Jamuary????
Jamuary is an annual challenge given to musicians to try and make a unique song every single day in the month of January!
One UNIQUE song a day? That sounds tough!
It is! But it's a great way to push yourself and really get you into the creative groove!
How do I participate???
Simply make a song every day in January and post it with the tag Jamuary2022!
But what if I miss a day?
Push yourself to make a song the next day!
Can I collaborate with other artists?
Of course!
Is it really that simple?
It literally could not be any simpler than that!!!!
I challenge you to challenge yourself! See if you can make it through the entire month! And remember: Have fun!!!
Please feel free to post links to your submissions here to share with others and best of luck to those who will be participating!
Also, I plan to keep an eye on this thread so let me know if you are interested in joining this musical adventure!
I’d do it but I have a job :( and it’s their busy season and they have me triple shifting. I feel so shitty I can’t Jamuary.

You shouldn't, it's just a challenge made for fun, your job is way more important than it:)
My challenge today was to make a song using Dorian mode.. and lofi genre. I'm familiar with Dorian mode but not lofi lol.
I heard a bunch of @CasperJoaca's songs and thought, hey, why not?

Still on time. Who else stayed consistent each day?
Wanted to try something cutesy sounding today. Could have been more epic but I had a lot of work today.
Also Tom Fulp followed me 😱
I genuinely cannot understand how people write a song in one day. I know there are people who make great stuff even faster, but I just don't get it. My brain cannot process how I could make anything of any value that way.

From someone who usually makes full songs in about 5 hours of actual work (spread out over multiple days though), I gotta say, it usually isn't that all that challenging if you have a lot of inspiration, are not a perfectionist, and somewhat know what you're doing. If you're lacking inspiration though, or if you want the utmost highest quality thing ever, then yeah, a day won't do it 99% of the time :P

I think the more experience you have doing something the less time it takes to finish
You also gotta keep it simple and sacrifice some quality when necessary. For example, a lot of my songs for Jamuary weren't eq'd, and some could have used better mixing or I could have added bars with more variety.
Just make sure it sounds good. If you need inspiration you can just noodle on a piano or guitar, that's what I do :)
Kinda phoned it in but its something!!! Day 12!

A lot of this challenge is to get you thinking more about the process of finishing something as opposed to trying to make everything a magnum opus of sorts. Being able to make something and getting forced to call it "done" is a great way to get out of the mindset of never finishing things until they're perfect.

Officially the most time I've spent producing a track for Jamuary.
My first take on funk genre; and for some reason I thought, hey, why not mix in jazz and hip-hop?.. 😓
idk if this works at all but it was pretty fun to make. probably fucked up the mixing
Apparently this is what happens when I drink Red Bull all day.
Almost halfway. I can do this in my sleep!
