A complete waste of time that solves nothing. We shouldn’t have to deal with politicians continuing the lie that video games is responsible for violent crimes again. Ideally, this bill (or law) should immediately be dismissed as well as the politician.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

they should ban the videogames spartans, roman legionaries, ancient mongols, vikings, etc. were playing back then!

on a serious(?) note, I was going to say something about Hotline Miami being banned in Australia, but I forgot... or was it about Counter Strike being banned in Brazil? or was it about some other game/mod/movie/whatever that got banned in a country for being violent and people just getting illegal copies anyway? hm...

Its not gonna solve anything at all I am tired of these old ass men who don't even understand anything about video games ban them. they even have ratings on the games to warn parents about the content the child will be exposed to. But lets say this if a 12 year old kid wants Grand Theft Auto 5 and the parent buys it then they automatically gave permission to play a violent video game. Its a stupid decision to ban violent video games when parents raise their kids well enough to know better not to recreate anything in the games if they are buying the violent games then the parent trust the child not to recreate the events in the games.

It's dumb, like unresponsible people just give kids things that they obviously shouldn't be seeing since they have a rating that is not that hard to see and banning something because you bearly look at the rating is dumb, at that point you might as well ban anything that isn't family friendly pg clean, like R movies and stage plays, the internet and the news industry since all of those have violence in them so we might as well ban them.

Good grief people, humanity have been extremely violent towards each other since the beginning of time, like 50,000+ years ago, and now you're saying that video games is the cause and root of people being violent...

Let me ask you a question.

WHAT FUCKING VIDEO GAME WERE CAVEMEN PLAYING BACK THEN?!

In fact, honestly, if you do the math, if you look at the history of humanity, and the number of violent injuries/deaths, the past 50 years barely even got registered on the graph (like probably 0.001% total violent injuries/deaths).

Exactly, if you (parents) can't read the stinking letter/number on the bottom-left side of the game box, then why in the fuck are you buying the freaking game then, which means you basically failed at being a parent.

The ESRB/PEGI/CERO exist for a reason, to prevent underaged kids from receiving the game that is attended for older audiences.

There ought to be a law against continually pushing for the same sorts of laws which keep failing.

This applies to all the Internet censorship stuff too.

Attempt to push through a dumb law that the people don't like and which fails? You shouldn't be allowed to just keep trying and trying again. Same for anyone else. Let's make THAT a law!

Or at the least, ban the attempt of such new laws for some reasonable time period after the last attempt failed. Say, 100 years ban on trying to pass the same shit..

at this point i don't even know what to say, just.... wtf. it's not the videogames that are causing the problem, it's the goddamn parents. oh, some kid shot their mom after playing gta? (or whatever the story was) well it's not the game that made him shoot his mom, he probably didn't even know what it did. in fact, why would you even have a gun near a kid? and why would they even buy the game for them if they can clearly see the M rating on the box, as well as on the back. in fact, the entire reason why those little letters are put on game boxes (and the descriptors on the back) is to prevent such things from happening. yet they thought it would be a good idea to ban something that isn't even causing the fucken problem.

Joe Lieberman and Herb Kohl were right about video games causing all those violent children to go ballistic because they played those violent video games

If we're gonna ban "violent video games" then we should ban the entire past history humanity had.
