And I am realising I don't really know how to draw. I'd post this in the art forum, but I don't actually want any advice or feedback. Just letting y'all know I've wasted my hard-earned cash.

I mean, I used to draw and animate. I just haven't in 10+ years. It's not at all like riding a bike.

Thanks. I'll probably practice diligently for a few weeks before I get bored of it.

Weird thing: I ordered off the XP-Pen website, and it came in an Amazon envelope. They told me it would take 20-30 days to ship and it came in like 2.

Good for you. I can only draw stick figures with penises on MSPaint.

Thanks. I've been trying to make time for myself to do fun things, and it's been hard with the current state of the world. I've always found drawing and art to be almost meditative.

People have gained massive popularity on Newgrounds with worse art styles than that. I believe you should embrace it.

I can't draw jack shit as well, and my perfectionism alone is enough to remove the theraputic aspect to it. But I still want to get good. I read some sage (pun intended) advice in the art forum about mimicking your favorite artists' styles in order to study. I feel like that's a good place to start. Not outright tracing, But deconstructing the anatomy of the art, in a sense. an Art-topsy.

Cool yeah. I've dabbled in many art forms over the years. That tip has been helpful for me when learning all of them. I guess I need to figure out how people actually draw certain styles so that I can learn to emulate them.

I suffer from a bit of perfectionism as well, related to my anxiety disorder. So I find doing something goofy and rushed can help me break away from that. But when I look at something like those adult colouring books, I feel physically sick from anxiety just thinking about having to colour inside all those lines. So I can totally see what you mean when you say that drawing wouldn't be therapeutic for you.

One of the things I want to do as well to help defeat my perfectionism is Gesture drawing, If I get beaten down enough by just drawing the basics maybe I can work my way up to stuff I wanna actually make. I wanna draw the stories in my head out, Creative writing (I have yet to decide what would be my first continuous story on NG until a literature portal is made) isn't enough! Neither is music!

I have a confidence issue at times where I throw away any work that isn't the next mona lisa. How do you build up your confidence?

I guess I just find something I like about what I've made. Even if there's problems with it, I know there's good things too. And for me, that's good enough to share.

It took me a long time to learn to love myself, with all my flaws. I had to take some self-esteem classes and group therapy. I also had to get therapy for my anxiety, because my perfectionist tendencies are related to anxiety.

idk I'd say that's an excellent drawing thus far, full of untapped potential. Keep going.
