Welcome to the Newgrounds Underdogs’ Audio Contest Knock-out Round 2020! :D If you want some background on why the NGUAC is so awesome, click HERE.
What’s a Knock-out Round?
The next stage of this 3-stage competition! Half of the original competitors from each group were accepted into the Knock-out Round, rounded down according to group membership and then rounded up if there were ties. The new group membership totals may be unequal as a result of ties, rounding, and disqualifications.
What do I do if I made it in?
The remaining competitors have until Monday, August 24th (corrected a typo here) at 11:59 pm EDT to submit a completely original track (i.e., made from scratch for the competition) to this thread. You couldn't have started working on this piece until NOW, as per the rules. If we find evidence of you having done so, you will be automatically disqualified. Please read all of the rules if you haven’t already.
There will be NO remixes, re-makes, mash-ups, covers, arrangements, or anything like that for this round. Your piece really has to be COMPLETELY original. It’s a good idea to clearly state what you used to make your track - which sounds are from VSTs/plugins, which ones you recorded yourself, and which ones are from downloaded sample libraries. NO COPYRIGHTED SAMPLES ARE ALLOWED. If you don’t know where a sample originates from, please don’t use it. This copyright policy is also clarified in the NG Audio Portal guidelines.
The strongest competitors from each group will be announced by Monday, August 1st. Then, those people will face each other in an epic finale!
What do I do if I didn’t make it in?
Ask the judges for some feedback, of course! For your convenience, the judges’ usernames appear below in the forum posts with the scoresheet screenshots corresponding to the group they judged. These people worked really hard to deliver these scores on time, so please be patient and respectful with them. There’s no need to announce a vendetta against the judges in the thread - they don’t even get paid for this, so not even your tax dollars are at stake. The judges might even be willing to leave you some reviews with specific feedback if you request it nicely.
SO WHERE ARE THE RESULTS?
The results will be posted in a series of separate forum posts in a couple of minutes. People who made it are highlighted in green. People who didn’t are not. The lists are alphabetized within their groups, so please make sure you know which group you’re in. Unless your fan total has changed in the past 9 days, the following should still be relevant:
Underdogs: 0-10 fans
Professional Amateurs: 11-22 fans
Above Average Joes: 23-56 fans
All Stars: 57 fans or more
Congratulations to all of the competitors for their hard work. I’m always extremely excited by the new talent that I discover just by judging this contest, and my favorites list has exploded over the past couple of weeks. That said, the toughest part of the competition is upon us! You may now begin working on your Knock-out Round tracks, everyone. Good luck!
