I am not really a game "journalist", but a curator. I have been reviewing games for like 2 years already and I think I know the problem with them.
Video game journalists don't pay for their games, they get free copies. They don't feel like they worked for their games anymore, so they stop caring about them. Every copy sent to them could get accepted at first glance because it looks cool, but they get tired from the moment they open the game. I bet they hate their job too, because they now HAVE to play and review it unlike the moment they started when they did it for fun.
I kinda have it too, but with very shitty asset flips. I shitlist all the low effort garbageware and all our 34000 followers get to see it.
